| floppy ears? My yorkies ears have never stood up. He's 5 months now... is it too late to try shaving the hair and taping them? I've read that teething makes them droop, but they've really never stood up on their own, only when he leans his head back or something.

| My boy's ears never stood up either. They are floppy cute dumbo ears. I really like them like that too, but my boy is bigger than most people's yorkies. He is about 7lbs and just seems a little taller and a little longer than most. They fit his personality. I have no idea if its too late to tape. Good Luck! |

| Mine is 11 weeks old and I asked the groomer I took her to if her ears needed to be done. She said no, not if both of her parents ears were up. I dont know about this. It just doesnt look like her ears will go up. Im going to ask the groomer to trim up her ears next time. Im not sure if and when its too late to do the ears.

| One of my girls (Mimi) ears never stood up and she's 2 years old. I love them like that because she still keeps her puppy look. I could never imagine her with her ears up...gives her character. She's a big girl too...11 lbs My males ears stood up at 14 weeks and my other girl was a rescue..her ears were already up. I noticed that Mimi's ears are much thicker than the other two so maybe that was the reason they never came up...I also didn't tape her ears. My thing was if they were meant to come up they would on their own. I would try to shave and tape them to see what happens. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | One of Lola's ears was already up when I got her from the breeder, but the other one was floppy and so cute. I was told by the breeder and her vet if I wanted her other ear to come up that I should work on it before she is six months. If it's not up by then it probably won't come up they said. Not sure if that's true, but if it is it sounds like you still have some time left to try. I decided to let it be and eventually it did come up. She was about four months old. I still kind of miss her floppy little ear. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I have both yorkies with up ears (3) and down ears (2) I tried the taping on Kayla but it didn't really work her ears were just to limp. I like ears both ways.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I don't think it is size related as my Teddy has awesome stand up ears and he is over 16 lbs.

| Joshua is about to be seven months old. His ears never stood up until I started taping his ears. I started taping Joshua’s ears at five months. Applying tape to Joshua’s ears was a grueling process. He was always taking the tape off his ears. I was considering not taping his ears anymore until his left ear started to stand up. Then I only taped his right ear until it stood up on its own. I taped his ears for three days and then took the tape off on the fourth day. When his ears started to fall down, then I would tape them again for three days. The following two websites helped me learn how to tape Joshua’s ears: 1. Top Taping Yorkie Ears Taping Yorkshire Terrier Ears Stand Erect Yorkie Ears 2. Jon-An's Yorkshire Terriers (How to train Yorkies ears to stand) It is not too late to start taping your Yorkie’s ears. My experience proves that taping a Yorkie’s ears at fives months can make his ears stand up. |
