Yorkie Yakker | annoyed. The other day i went to a bbq with some friends and brought Romeo along so he could enjoy our friends huge backyard. well the baby got thirsty so i took out one of the cold bottles of water i brought for him. i never got so many nasty looks in my life! they didn't understand why i wouldn't go into the house and just use fauset. i live in germany and the pipes over here are OLD so i really don't trust any water in any old german houses. i told everyone this and they still looked at me like i was crazy! then they started picking on his polo shirt i had on him and the beret i had in his hair to keep his wild hairs out of his face. and even started making those fild goal kicking jokes! so protected him like he was my own baby (which he is!) and told them they were all being jerks (not the EXACT word i used haha and there were plenty more to follow), told my husband to take me home. romeo is one of the sweetiest dogs i've ever met. he has a very cute personality. it hurts me when people talk about him that way. why are people SO rude when it comes to little dogs? everytime i think about the situation i just get more irritated!

| Oh poor Romeo! I know how it is all of my cousin pick on my little chihuahua because I put him in shirts and carry him around and only let certain people hold him. But I usually shut them up pretty fast, I am bigger that all of them, so they are afraid of me

| I have learned to ignore ppl like that. My babies drink bottled water. I do not give them water from our faucet. I see it this way...If I don't drink water from the faucet why should I give it to my babies. That is my choice and I don't knock anyone for giving their pets water from the faucet. My mom always had a comment about me letting my babies on the couch and finally one day she caught me on a bad day (i felt bad afterwards) but I was so tired of hearing what I should or allow my babies to do in my own house.... I told her...look this is their house...this is their couch... and if anyone doesn't like it they do not need to come visit. I will not lock my babies up for no one. Now she accepts it and she loves them too....its just that my mom is old school and never grew up with animals. |

| I know how you feel. One of Mike's grandmother's friends was talking to us one night and everytime we talked about the puppies, she just said they are just dogs. To her the may be just dogs, to us, they are our babies. Mike's brother doesn't like them either. |

| That makes me mad too. My husbands parents and even my husband (sometimes) makes comments about how much I care for these babies, and how much I cared for Gizmo. I give my babies bottled water just like I do my son. I'm the one who works and pays for the water, clothes, toys, etc.... for my babies, If they don't like it they can leave.. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Sorry you had to go through that situation, how rude of them. I am so glad that our family and friends are animal lovers too, I never get made fun of for treating Jeter the way I do. My husband might tease me but non have mads nasty comments about his outfits and the likes. If someone did, I would stand up to them just as you did Good for you for speaking your mind to the rude ones!

| People just don't understand until they're in the same or similar situation. I was once one of those. My sister-in-law had a couple of daschunds (RIP), and I couldn't understand how she could spend over $10,000.00 on a dog -- Well, now I definitely understand and I have told her time and time again, "Now I know exactly how you felt." That is why YT is so GREAT -- because everyone here can relate!

| I'm sorry! People who don't have small animals just don't get it.... they are usually the ones that think dogs were made for hunting, or riding in the back of a truck, or only to sleep outside...etc. I ignore comments like "thats not a dog... thats a rat", "doesn't your dog walk?". Its annoying, but... I just deal with it!

| I'm in the same boat. I was the first in my family to have pets and they have now caused a huge rift in my family. When I first got Riley, my sister and mother were not pleased (keep in mind I'm in my 50's and the issue was over the shared usage of our summer home). I finally said, I'm not asking you, I'm telling you that I'm getting a dog. Best thing I've ever done in my life! I love my boys beyond distraction - but the sad fact is I have been "uninvited" to the summer home because of them. Their loss.........
