The tech was going to give the vaccines without the vet doing exams first? It's a good thing you got outta there. It can be a challenge to find a vet that will listen to you and knows what they are doing.:( |
I would have did the same thing but probably after the Paris Hilton remark. No one deserves to be treated like that |
You should be proud. Many people are intimidated by the Vet and would have just got the shot, then went home mad and wishing they would have walked out! You have every right to be mad, but you did the best thing by just leaving! |
Thanks for all the replies everyone. I am still just very worked up over this entire situation. Mikey just got here, which is wonderful because I didn't expect him until after 5:00. He is just as mad as me now and wants to go there. However, I'm not allowing him to go anywhere near that place. I'm getting off now and packing to go to the park. Hopefully, I'll calm down and come back later with happy thoughts and pictures. Thanks again everyone!! |
That place sounded real dirty and unprofessonal. I believe it was a very good thing you did not allow the vet to treat your babies. A low grade vet clinic will have untrained, thoughtless, staff working there. Heck, the housecleaning was even bad. I hate it when the vet only is concerned with "routine" care. NOt listening to the owner, or caring. Those are all extremley bad signs. the vet place i go to is ok. But, I had a different vet see Suzi last time and he was not honoring my wishes concerning vaccines. I need to be certain to request the same vet that DID understand . I hope you find a good vet for your darlings. I drivr nearly an hour for ours.:aimeeyork |
Good for you, Dina! If I heard that witch say something about Paris Hilton, I'd have been SO mad, I probably would have cursed her out!! #$%^$! Apparently, they are not used to people asking important questions about their pets. I wish I could have been there!!!!!!! OMG. :p I can just picture you bringing notes and articles and wanting to discuss matters in depth and this guy just looking at you!! HAHAHA!! Dina, try not to let it bother you. You will find a better place...they are not worth getting upset over. Hugs to everybody!!!!!!!! |

Geeze, Dina~ I'm so sorry you had to live thru that! It's stressful enough on you and the doggies having to go to the vet's to begin with, much less finally getting there with all yours and then being insulted for your trouble:mad:. I'd be so mad, I don't know what I'd do! It's hard to believe they're still in business and I'd make sure that I gave them VERY BAD P.R. at any chance. I'd hate it too, if the place was stinky when they first opened. The first grooming shop I took Max to (on recommendation of his breeder) smelled like that and I was the first person there; I never went back, even though they did a nice job. The place I go now is always super-busy and it NEVER smells bad. A vet's shouldn't be any different than a doctor's office IMO. And the thing about the thermometer is DISGUSTING... how can they even look you in the eye after doing something like that? You'd think they'd have enough sense to be embarrassed at least. How totally unprofessional and I'd report them to to whoever is appropriate. What if one of your dogs had some weird flesh eating bacteria or something (doubtful, but it COULD be a lot of things) and just b/c your dogs all live together doesn't necessarily mean that they already have what the others have. And besides, it's not sanitary regardless if it's a human or animal! UGH! You did absolutely nothing wrong and you have every right to be angry. You'd think that someone with 4 dogs would warrant a little more respect than what they gave you, since you obviously have SOME knowledge about your own dogs and dogs in general AND 4 dogs worth of business is A LOT. I hope you find a vet you really like and feel comfortable with; I like mine ok, but she's one of those that doesn't really listen to you much and when I question her about some things, she tries to make you feel like you are ignorant and she knows all the latest stuff (she can't even type notes on her latptop properly:rolleyes:). Good luck, sweetie~ |
Thats horrible!!!! I can't believe they did that to you! I would have said something to that receptionist if she had made that comment to me!:thumbdown It took me 3 horrible visits before I found the right vet for me and Tino. I went to the first vet (which sounds like what your dealing with) It was kindof stinky and the receptionists were all rude. They didn't even look at my cat!! I was so mad, they couldn't of said "how are you today?" -- personally I find those things extremely important. My second vet was just an idiot to put it bluntly. Tino is kind of on the smaller side and the vet didn't know how to handle him. He sat there and had the tech hold him down (not gently by the way) and continue to hurt my dog until Tino finally bit him...and then he said it was my fault!!!???? I should have done what you did and walked out on that one! I wanted to freak out! So i left him and then the third one was just a lack of professionalism so I left before i got out of the reception area. Now I found an amazing vet and everything is all right. They know Tino's name when I arrive! (which is HUGE!) They take very good care of him and explain everything to me in grave detail before they even schedule anything. I think the best was when I was panicked becuase he had hurt his back and the vet actually caled me at home, after we treated him, for 2 weeks just to check on him becuase she was worried.:animal-pa I am sure there is a perfect vet for you out there, take it from someone who had some really horrible experiences herself~ |
I know how scary it can be. I'm picky too. My vet office is clean and I still don't put mine on the floor. I think after her little snid remark about Paris Hilton I would have said, Well, since Paris Hilton changes her mind every 5min. I'm changing mine. I would have walked out. THat is terrible and the vet didn't sound much better. Good luck on finding a good one. When Tina was diagnosed with VonWillebrand's disease I called and talked and took her to so many vets that it was ridulouis. THey didn't know how to treat it. Finally, my vet's office had just hired a new vet and she was a God's send. She knew exactly what to do. So, there are good ones out there, you just have to keep looking. God bless!! |
I don't think there was anything wrong with what you did. I would be pissed if that happened to me. The receptionist was just plain rude, but the Dr. was just like what most other doctors have become, all they care about it seeing as many patients as possible to get money. He had no business ignoring your questions, especially when one of your little ones has problems with seizures. I'm sorry you're having such trouble finding a new vet. |
You did nothing wrong..That vet would NOT have my business either..How rude and uncaring ... |
Oh...I forgot to say, that I think you did a great job typing for being so mad~ the only typo I noticed, and giggled b/c it was SO APPROPO, was when you said after the tech was going to get the vaccines without an exam, you said "NEEDLES to say".....that's funny......I'm still giggling....sorry:p |
I agree with the people who have said you should report them. If they made you feel uncomfortable in any way you have the right to walk out, no matter what the situation. Plus you gave them more than enough chances to treat you and your babies with respect, but they didn't bother. Our babies cannot speak up for themselves so they rely on us to do that for them. You did the right thing by walking out, don't doubt yourself for even one second. |
Dena, you should have told them, "Don't hate US because WE'RE beautiful!" (LOL). I can't believe he didn't even want to discuss their history. Definitely bad business on the part of that whole office -- they just lost a very valuable customer; someone who cares deeply for her babies. Shake this off, Dena, and go to DQ. Yay! And take more fabulous pics of those soon-to-be-famous babies. |
