| Please Help!!!! My 3yr Old Doesnt Like Her New Sister!!! I really hope you folks can help us!! When we were in TX last week, we bought a new baby sissy for our miss daisy (3 yrs old) and their pommie brother Bugsy (8 yrs old) . While I realize the transition is not immediate, Miss Daisy seems to have negative feelings about her new sister...grr grr's her, won't play, turns away, etc. What can we do?? We love all of our kids so much....it is breaking our hearts!!! Please help with advise!!!!

| I got Darcy on May 3rd, we already have a 6 year old male, It took over a month for him to accept her, and he still gets annoyed with her puppy behavior, but has finally accepted that she is here to stay. Do not worry it will get better I promise. it really does take time. Don't tell him off if he has a go at her, he is teaching her good manners like her mother would. Willis tells her off alot, which I find hard sometimes, but it's best to leave them to it (to a certain extent)

| I would just give it time. When Kobe got his new brother he wanted nothing to do with him. It was like this for about 2months , now they cry and whine if we separate them. When Kobe would get upset we taught him "relax", and he would, now if they are over excited it works wonders

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Just give them some time and they will work it out. I have brought in 4 puppies in the past 2 1/2 years, one at a time to a house where my pom had been an only dog for 8 years. They worked it out. They still will pick on each other but then they snuggle up together. It can take a few weeks or so to get them use to the new baby. Hang in there

| Gizmo was three when we got Tenci. He had been the only puppy that we had, and was very possessive of me. At first I think he was afraid of her because she was sooo hyper. When he realized she wasnt going to kill him, he wanted to kill her. I tried very hard for nothing to change between me and him. He always got special treatment. He ate first, he slept next to me in the bed, he got first dibs on everything. After a few weeks he learned to accept she was there, some days he would even try to play with her. Gizmo was sick at this time, I think that if he had lived he would have became her friend by now. It just takes some time. |

| It takes time Within a few weeks, they will probably be getting along and playing, but for now, I would not necessarily leave them alone together unattended just in case.

| Hang in there, before you know it they will be best buddies. When I rescued Gabby 6 months ago my two didn't want any part of her. They weren't mean to her but just avoided her. Everytime Gabby would come up to them they would walk away from her. My other two would lay together and not include Gabby in anything. At first I felt bad because Gabby would go try to lay with them and they would get up and go lay somewhere else. Now they are best buddies and do everything together. They figured out who is the boss and are fine with it. It will get better, just give it time. |

| Thanks for all the advise (keep it coming please!!) We only brought Rosie home 3 days ago, so I am sure the big kids need time to adjust, especially since we were gone for a week and brought her home with us... Daisy usually loves other fuzzy kids, so I am surprised and concerned with the grr grring..I sure hope she decides to love her baby sister soon, it just makes me sad.. For the time being, I am bringing Rosie to work with me (I did the same thing when I first got Daisy 3 years ago) and she and I are sleeping in the guest room, while the big kids sleep in the bed with their Daddy (again, just like when Daisy came home) Just praying all works out!

| It will just take some time. Keep trying to get them playing with you together. I got mine 1 month appart from each other so I didnt have a adjustment period. My two do go through periods where one will gwl at the other for whatever reason. I dont make a big deal out of it and just let them work it out amongst themselves

| I have an article on my website about introducing new dogs to exising house hold dogs. LDT House Training If you are still having problems, refer to the article and you may need to "start over" with the intros! Good luck! |

| new pet You bought a new pet for yourself, not Daisy...Daisy was perfectly happy with the home situations as it was...but that does not mean we can never get a new pet. Daisy should adjust in a week or two...give her lots of attention and love, as I am sure you are doing... My parents told me when I was 8 yrs old I was getting a baby brother...I told them not to do it on my account..dogs are much the same at first... |
