| Scared Silly I thought I was going to lose my little girl tonight from choking. I had given Taffy a nd C.J. both a small piece of meat and was going to throw the rest away when I heard a "Thud" my husband I both turned to look and there was Taffy stiff legged shaking. I ran and picked her up and forced her mouth opened and with out thinking stuck my finger down her throat and could feel the piece of meat but I couldn't get it out I must of pushed it farther down. I took my finger out to see what I needed to do with her and she was fine then to started to lick my face and hands. Needless to say I started to cry. She is not wheezing or coughing. She seems to be just fine following me and kissing me. I totally forgot about doing the heimlich seeing her like that. It looked like she was having a grand mal siezuer. I have had them choke on rawhide and I would pat them on the lower ribs until they coughed it back up. But nothing like this, every happened before..... And, I hope it never does again. Thanks for posting the (How to Guide) Doggy Heimlich Maneuver.

| I'm glad that she is OK. Could someone please explain to me how to do the heimlic on a pup? I've never heard that before, and have often wondered if it's possible. Sorry, I just noticed that it's in the "how to guide". Thanks, I'll look it up. Last edited by pogo123; 06-20-2008 at 03:12 AM. |
