Hi, sorry for your loss. Congrats on the new girls you have given a home to. Keep encouraging the girls, like many said they can do a 180 once they realize you have love to give them. Cheerios is a treat some yorkies like, very safe. The Innova food comes in very small bites (you may have to ask for it), very comfortable for a yorkies small and sometimes tender mouth.

I wish you much luck and success with your new girls.

Anyway our sorrow caused us to go to a rescue place and adopt two Yorkie sisters who have been puppy mill mommas. To say it is a tedious time is really an understatement and I keep telling myself I can do this! I've only had them three nights now, gave them their first baths today. They are so scared of everything, so insecure, I don't know if they will ever be social, but so far so good. Of course they aren't housebroken, one will go in and out the puppy door but the other is afraid to. I put her out and she just stays out and cries instead of coming back in, such a sad little girl. They are both so skinny! I am feeding them Pedigree and it seems to give them runny poop, but their teeth are so bad (they've had dental done) that I don't think their little mouths can tolerate hard food and since that is all they've had I think they were slowly starving. They eat like little pigs, hopefully they'll adjust to soft, canned food.

I have had one mill momma previously, years ago, but she was just one and I didn't have any other dogs when I first got her. I am posting this in hopes that some of you who've had experience with mill dogs will give me some advice and encouragement. As it stands right now I'm kind of wondering if I did the right thing in taking two, but they were sisters and I couldn't bear to part them as they've evidently been together their whole lives.

Did you get them in Prague?

I too just got a puppy mill girl on Saturday from a rescue person named Kim. My new dog only has 4 teeth and is very scared also but coming around. She is older? maybe and not real active. Luckily I cook for other guy, so the food I feed is already soft..I boil chicken and then add broccoli and carrots and cook them a long time then add lentils, split pea and brown rice. After cooking I freeze in small containers and it lasts about a month..This is all the Bob eats. He wont eat the dry I leave in his bowl. Marley, my new mill dog, loves it. I know what you mean but I think time, and patience and MUCH MUCH love and encouragement is all we need ..... I love mine already. She deserves so much..It will work out..

It is wonderful that you kept the sisters together. I think it is cruel to separate them unnecessarily when they've been together forever. It has only been three days. It will take time, but I'll bet when it's all been worked out that you will have no regrets whatsoever and will say they are the best little doggies you ever saw.

God Bless you for rescuing these 2 angel babies.

I agree give it some more time. I'm sure once they start trusting their new situation that things will get better!

So sorry for the recent loss of your babies.

I am so happy that you were able to get these two sisters I beleive giving them a little bit of pumpkin will stop the runny poop. Do you know what they were eating before you got them? Changing foods too quickly can cause runny poop.
It will take a lot of love, patience and time for these little dogs. I know they are in good hands and will turn around. It will be gradual though.
These poor dogs have been through hell, and for sure scared to death. They probably have never been treated well, and were from horrific conditions. I know they now have a second lease on life, and You deserve a medal for providing this to them

i just got my puppy Lexi from a backyard breeder... and when i brought her to the vet, the vet said that she had parasites in her stool.. i forgot the two types of parasites... but she said it was common for dogs coming from big breeders or puppy mills.. she also gave me antibiotics but said her poop will still be runny for awhile until the parasites are gone..
i know you didnt get yours directly from the mill itself, but maybe the person you got them from didnt get a stool sample examined.
the behavioral thing is just something shell have to change.. shell realize that youre her new mommy... a real mommy thatll love her and care for her.
lemme know if this helped (stool sample)

No, Rusty's Momma, I didn't adopt them in Choteau. I didn't know about your organization. Unfortunately I'm on dialup and can't access it very well even now that I know about it.
I was just curious if you got them in Choteua cause there was a dog auction (HORRIBLE) there on Saturday & we went & rescued 2.
Whenever you do get on if you need anything feel free to PM me or Kelz or PrincessDiana or Katy's Mom (those are our YT names, all members of the rescue)

Yes, from Kim. My good friend got a little girl there about four months ago and before that my step daughter got a little yorkiepoo to replace her most precious girl that died unexpectedly but at an advanced age.

Things are ever so slowly getting a little better. No poop today, no runny poop outside. But the poor little things are so unsure. One NEVER wags her tail and the other wags ALL THE TIME, it is a nervous habit. She (Dolly) is unbelievably submissive, it is how she survived. The other one, Molly, looks like she is very carefully filing every action away for further study, a very smart little girl.

The poor little things aren't very pretty, but then they are so terribly thin. I don't think they have an parasites as Kim is very careful to have her dogs completely vet-ed before putting them up for adoption. I think they just need lots of food and soft beds to lounge in.

Welcome fellow Okie to YT!!!! Where are you at?? I'm in Elk City

pumpkin should be canned, not pumpkin pie filling btw. I was going to mention that I used to feed one of my dogs pedigree and had to change because it gave runny poos.

Good luck, poor babies probably never went outside in their life and its a whole new experience for them.

i got lily from Kim in prague too!!!! I bet they are all from the same mill. Lily is 7 and by the way it sounds yours are just like she was..

When i got lily she was scared of everything! Not to mention she would not come near me or anyone for that matter. Just be paient. that's the best advice i can give. They will come around.. it took her about a week & a half to really come up to me. Start by petting their chest so that they can see what you are doing then move to their back and eventually their head.

I would like to add that now 4 months later Lily is by my side at all times. And she goes absolutly nuts when i get home. She is still scared of loud noises and really fast movements but i think she will get better with time!!! i'm still working on potty training but she is getting alot better!
if you have any questions feel free to ask!

I'm East of OKC, out in the country. These babies were outside a little when they were with Kim in Prague, she is a wonderful woman who rescues all breeds. She works for those dogs all the time, does her work alone and manages by donations. Truly an angel here on earth.

I don't know where the girls were prior to that, but evidently they weren't treated as badly as some, still a terrible life and no love. I will get some pumpkin tomorrow, but it seems their poop is getting better, maybe the change in diet plus the newness of their surroundings caused the loose poop.

We've had at least one Yorkie in the family for the last 20 years, and when Joi died we just couldn't go on without one, and so here we are with two! The Lord certainly works in strange ways sometimes, but we've found we always seem to be lead to the next puppy or puppies who need us, not necessarily a puppy in age but we call our our dogs puppies.
