| Our BIG day is almost here!! OK...NOW I'm getting scared. Finally after all the health issues addressed, and the vaccinations addressed, it's at last, the day before Madison's SNIP SNIP. I know I"ve looked forward to this day, but as usual, I just keep saying "it will be just fine, no big deal" til the last minute and then I start freaking out. So, I am really pretty sure that everything WILL be fine and he'll come thru it ok....my BIG issue is that he doesn't go in until 8:45 AM.....and I can't feed him after 8 PM tonite.....and he wakes up at between 4:45 and 5 AM for food. Both my dogs, I'm convinced, LIVE to eat and I'm worrying about how am I going to feed Max (b/c they're both going to be expecting food immediately upon waking as usual) without feeding Madison? I don't think there's any way I can NOT feed Max until almost 9 am....has anyone else had to agonize over this? I know I'm going to feel like an ogre tomorrow; I already feel bad about it

| Believe it or not, Max will be OK to eat later ...If this were me....I would try to stay in bed with them as long as possible and when I did get up, I'd start doing stuff around the house, of course, I myself would not eat anything. I would bring Madison to the Vet and when I got home, I'd feed Max...OR...You can feed Max in another room...OR...Leave food for Max when you leave to bring Madison Best of Luck |

| I know exactally how you feel and I think almost everyone else does too. Hang in there Mom it will be ok. Prayer's coming your baby's way that all goes just fine and the day fly's by for both of you. Stay in bed later tomorrow morning, later than usual. Getting up a 5 will make it difficult not to feed him. That's a long time to keep avoiding him and not giving him food. Good luck, |

they told me no food after 11pm! He'll be fine.. teddy was great he was out of it the first day and didn't seem like himself at all.. but the next day he seemed to recognize me and we fed him in several small portions (like vet says) and by the 2nd day he wanted to play with all the other dogs outside lol. We gave him his meds only when he was too hyper and we were worried he'd hurt himself.. other then that teddy didn't need his pain meds at all.. but they did make him REALLY thristy and he did have accidents in the house he was also rebelous for the 2 weeks after it but he's been an ANGEL for the past three days(saturday was his 2 week mark).

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie had dental surgery last week and the vet with the little ones she allows food until 10 pm. My 4 get me up at 3:30 to 4 every morning to eat and they are not quiet about it. So I felt so bad but I kept Pixie locked up and fed the others and she was upset for about 30 minutes then they all went back to sleep. I felt like a monster. They do get over it.

I hope Madison will be an ANGEL immediately, LOL. I wonder why Teddy was rebellious for awhile afterward? Max was just a puppy and I can hardly remember anything about it but I don't remember him being any different except for when I first got him home and he was so sleepy. I guess I'll just have to deal with whatever happens though!

I do try to stay in bed at LEAST til 6 but Madison just makes it so annoying and impossible to do that. It's just their little faces staring at me that I'm afraid of, LOL....it makes you feel so MEAN! But after reading everyone's responses, I think you're right...feed Max just before I leave, which will probably work out great b/c Madison will be SO engrossed in putting his harness on so we can go somewhere. I wish the clinic started sooner in the morning, but I suppose that's a little much to ask. I need to fill out some paperwork anyway, so maybe I'll get there a little early. Thank you so much...sometimes it's just a little word from someone that makes you see the light!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, Seana, I know exactly what you mean - I HATE the no food thing - I feel like I may as well just cut off a paw, I feel so cruel. Plus, they usually don't even perform surgeries until around 11am-1pm - so they wait EVEN longer, it just kills me. I know it's only one day...but it's sheer torture for the humans.

I called yesterday to just confirm and ask them what time I could expect to pick him up, and if I might be able to stay with him...do they return my phone call? NOOOOO....I know it was just the day before, but they aren't open on the weekends, so I didn't think it was a big deal. After his surgery is done, I'll be writing whoever is in charge to let them know that I'm on their auxiliary (read: FUNDRAISING and UNDERWRITING)and we are very active (we just were presented a check for 38,000 from another organization who chooses a group to sponsor for each year, and we were it this year; and that's only b/c we enlisted one of their group; which I am considering quitting. My friend who is president of the auxiliary, just mentioned how disillusioned she is with them and is thinking of leaving b/c there's too many people making too much money who do nothing......now, I'm getting the picture! They need to hire someone to field calls the day before scheduled spay and neuters and NOT be returning calls "the next day due to the high volume of calls". I'm a little steamed at the moment. Although, in reality, I probably won't quit since it's mainly about the animals and their welfare, but still.....
