I am so sorry, my heart just broke for you and I have tears in my eyes from reading this - I just can't imagine what you're going through. Please know I'm thinking of you and your family.

I am SO sorry for your loss. The fact that there are so many yorkies being killed in this way scares the heck out of me. This morning our yorkie mix was killed in our own yard, witnessed by my children, by a lab that jumped our fence. My daughter is also feeling guilty, but like your daughter, its not their fault. I am scared to even take my remaining yorkie outside to go potty because even there he may be in danger. our little ones. I am sorry to bring myself into this but thought I needed to point out that no matter how careful one is bad things can happen, and ANY breed of dog can be as dangerous for I do hope your daughter will not be emotionally scarred as it was not her fault in any way. I am just glad your daughter did not get hurt as well. We are thing of, and praying for you.

Your loss is tragic. I hope your daughter can begin to understand she didn't do anything wrong. That pitbull should have been on a chain or something.

Aww I am so very sorry for your loss. What a terrible situation. I hope your daughter comes to realize that she was not to blame.
I have to agree about at least reporting this. WHAT IF this would have been a child? Authorities need to be made aware of your devastating situation and the risk this dog poses.

I totally agree. That dog could have attacked your daughter :mad:.

Your thread was the most heartbreaking to me.. because it involved your daughter.. and children must not grow up ever feeling they did something really wrong as those things can change their little lives for ever..I just hope and pray she will be ok and understand and know it was not her fault.. but a freak accident...I pray for you all and mostly your daughter and I also hope as hard as this is.. that you get another baby for her to regain the trust she feels she lost. I have lost two accidently over the years so I know and feel your pain.. I too blamed myself..we just do this....
For me the new furbutt in the family was a huge distraction and you never think you can ever love another one as much.. but soon you look at them and think.. omg I will never forget my loss... but you my new furbutt have made me live and love again...

Oh my gosh....I just want you to know that I LITERALLY have tears streaming down my face after reading your post. Honey, I am SO SORRY. From the bottom of my heart...I truly am. There are not words I can say that will take away your pain, and honestly, I don't even KNOW what to say....this is just so very incredibly sad :cry: It's always so hard to put REAL sympathy into a post because FOR YOU it's only reading words on a computer screen...but I want you to know that my heart is just aching TERRIBLY for you and your children. I wish I knew what to say besides "I am so sorry" - but I truly am....I wish I could give you a big hug honey....:cry: I will say a prayer for you and your family tonight :cry:

I am so sorry for your family's loss...this is becoming all too common on this website...our poor little babies don't realize how small they are and that they are prey for these bigger dogs. Sending you hugs and strength...

I'm so very sorry for your loss. It is never easy to hear these stories. And I always have such mixed emotions in dog attacks. I did lose a dog to a pack of wild dogs in a horrific pack attack when I was younger. Hugs and peace to you and your family tonight.........

OMG, I am so very sorry for you and all your family. My heart breaks for you and you have my most deepest codolences. I know no words will take away your families pain and anguish but I will definately be praying for all of you and hope you find peace through such a horrible tragedy.

I'm so sorry for your loss. This can happen to anyone. it's not your daughter's fault. Maybe if you got another baby it will help to ease the pain. OMG I don't know what I would do if something happened to my baby.

Oh gosh! This happens just way too much with nasty bigger dogs, esp pit bulls. Its tragic and horrible! I'm so sorry for your loss and your daughters misery. I hope in time she realizes that its not her fault at all. Sometimes the inexplainable happens :( Your family is in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this sad time. RIP sweet baby Cocoa.

Thank you all for your sympathy and comfort you offered. My daughter is getting better although she cries at bed time because Coco slept with her. Its hard to remember she is gone sometimes and when you do it just brings a fresh wave of heart break.

Thankfully we still have Diva and her puppies, so we do have some comfort from them. We are also having Coco cremated and will have her ashes in an urn that we will be able to keep.

The owner of the pitbull has not spoken to me, although my father in law is a justice Court Judge here in our county and has spoken to them. I don't know what has been said yet. We pretty much are keeping to ourselves to give our family time to deal with Coco's loss. I plan to talk to my father in law this evening to see what was said.

Once again thank you all. It feels good to talk to other people that love their dogs as much as we loved Coco.

I sure hope something can be done about this. that pitbull is dangerous.:aimeeyork I feel that the owners need to face penalties.:animal-pa

That is such a sad heart breaker to hear. It would be very hard to live any where near a pit bull. Poor little Coco. Hugs and good thoughts to your daughter.

I am so sorry for your loss. This is a fear that I live with on a daily basis. Three of the four houses directly behind us have pit bulls. I worry about them coming into my yard. One of them growls and paces the fence next to ours in a frenzy when ever we are in the back yard. The other two are large enough to jump the fence. It makes me so nervous.
