I think it's a mix of both. pitbulls are aggressive dogs and sometimes just flat out need to be fixed. But yeah I had neighbors who use to train rotwieliers to be mean and he would threaten to let them out on us and he had a SMALL fence so whenever they were out my sisters and I could never play outside. He ended up g etting another one, a puppy and was training it and it bit him.. he came back from the doctor with a sling on.. my mom laughed at him and told him it served him right.

I'm still sorry about your Yorkie.. I worry about mine and one of my neighbors in the apartment complexs lab and pit. they hate my dog and teddy hates them more and tries to attack them(when he's like 1/4 their size)

I hope I don't sound unsympathetic because trust me I would lose my mind if something happened like that to one of my yorkies like I said in a previous post I would probably end up in jail my yorkies are my kids I do not have kids I cannot have kids so trust me I feel your pain I could just imagine what you are going through, it was a bad dream I had the other night that had me up in tears hugging my baby saying over and over again thank god it was just a dream. I feel for you I do and it's sad that your daughter is feeling like it was her fault, truth is it isn't even the pits fault it is the owner of that dog that is responsible and I would try and do something to make sure the owner gets what they deserve, I would sue for emotional trauma to my child, and for the hospital bills I had to pay to try and save my baby, the owner must be made responsible. I just don't want my post to sound like I don't care because I do, I just know that alot of the yt'ers reaction would be put the pit to sleep or punish the pit somehow when again the truth is it wasn't the pits fault.

So very sorry for your loss! It is hard enough to lose someone or something in your life without it being in such a horrible way. I am sorry you all had to go through that pain. I will pray for your daughter and your Shelby....God Bless

I am so sorry. I can't imagine the pain you are in. (((HUGS))) to you and your family and especially your daughter. I'm sure she feels horrible but it was not her fault. :(

i am sorry for your loss, and understand completely wen you say that this dog is like a child, because sophie has become exactly that - my child.
how horrible for you to have to drive so far to the emergency vet.

my emergency vet is in gray, a little bit outside of houma -- so my trip is still 40-45 minutes away :(

I am so sorry. How awful for your daughter. Things just happen and its no ones fault. It seems like lately I read so much about horrible things that happen to this little babies. I am use to my schnauzers and Kayla is our first yorkie. It just scares me to death. I feel like I can't watch her enough. God bless and again I am so sorry. May that little baby RIP.

I read the story of your little dog and the terrible accident. I am soooo sorry you are going thru this horrible expierience and pain. You know I have a friend who has a pit bull and he is a wonderful sweet dog however they are not all like this and I really don't feel good about them at all. I don't live real close to my friend but I know her neighbors are leary when they see him even though he is a large baby. What a horrible thing to have happened! Did the owners of the pit bull at least apologize or at least offer to compensate your vet bills or offer in some way to replace your little dog? This is such a sad story, I have tears in my eyes as well. My sympathies to you and your family.:(

I absolutely feel it isn't the pits fault.. it is the owners who trained it. That is what my meaning is on making a report. No one is going to go warn the pit. they are going to put the OWNERS on notice. If they REQUIRE having such a vicious dog to protect property or any reason really, then their yard should not be so easily accessible by an innocent animal or child. If a yorkie could just walk over onto the property, then either they didn't have a fence, or they had some pretty big holes in it. I guess I just don't think it is right to have such a vicious animal used as protection, then leave the front door (so to speak) wide open.

and I am sorry I sound so strong about this, but I am so tired of hearing about another yorkie killed by a pit bull.. Why do people have to train dogs to be mean??Just the other day here in California a 1 yr old boy was mauled in the face by his grandparents pit bull.. It ripped his nose off. I am just appalled... and my gut is just wrenched to hear about this poor sweet yorkie being killed because someone would rather have a killer in thier front yard than a fence or good locks
