Meeko just turned 7 months and has never lifted his leg. He's been to the dog park a bunch of times and has seen male dogs lift their leg but, never started. I got him neutered when he was 6 months told. |
Little Man is 5 months and I've only seen him lift his leg once. I had just took a shower and got dress. I was putting my hair up in a pony, when I felt something wet and very warm. I looked down and he was marking me! I didn't scold him or punish him for it. I did tell him that it was a no no and I will always be his mommy. That he didn't have to pee on me everytime I got ready to leave the house. Then I laughed at how funny it actually was. Since then he hasn't marked me or anything in the house. So, he still squats! I figure that will change soon with us being outside alot during the day. |
Thank you everyone for your responses :) When hubby wakes up I will have to tell him about this thread ... & that he was WRONG hahahaa. ;) Amy |
My boyfriend used to say of Sampson when he was a puppy, "when's he gonna learn to pee like a man!" |
Hot Rod for sure tried to lift his leg to pee once-I think he was about 5 mos old at the time. He sought became unbalanced and put it back down and squatted. He's done it 2 other times outside but I think it was more uneven turf that he was on. I hope he never lifts his leg totally because we are going to keep him on the pad for boating reasons. |
Mine does both -- and he is neutered. Outside he mostly lifts his leg, but inside on his piddle pads, he squats. The sometimes he squats outside too. He's confused! |
Reese is a 1 1/2 years old....he just recently started lifting his leg. |
My Mac is 12-1/2 weeks old and he's been lifting his leg since he was 9-1/2 weeks old (honest!). I had posted about it a couple of weeks ago and someone else said their male started early too. It's not everytime as Mac only lifts his leg about 25% of the time - otherwise he squats to pee. :animal36 I also have a 2 year old male Shih Tzu that has never lifted his leg to pee. |
