Is anyone in YT a smoker???
 
I wanted to ask this question because I am a smoker and I always go outside to smoke or I lock myself up in my bedroom open the window and smoke I never smoke around my babies. My best friend Jasmine has a yorkie also named Gizmo and she always smokes around him, it makes me mad and I tell her all the time she shouldn't smoke around him but she told me her dogs breeder told her she has always smoked around her oldest yorkie who is supposedly 17 years old and the dog was fine. I find that hard to believe so I want to know what everybody else does or thinks about this situation who smokes. If you smoke do you smoke around your yorkie???

this is definitely going to be my last time posting on this site, I hardly ever get my questions answered so there is no use posting, I guess I will just take my friends word for it, thanks anyway.

awwwww don't take it the wrong way if your post get's over looked. YT has become SO huge that I think a lot of members feel this way. So please don't leave us!

To answer your question, nope I don't smoke. I took a pack of cigs one time when I was a teen, stole them from my mom lol
well I took one long drag, sucked in and choked off my AZZ! HA! that took care of me ever smoking lol
I did grow up with both parents who smoked, I'm so glad I never got hooked.

i smoke and i also go outside, one because it stinks up everything and
two,its not good for the dog to inhale in smoke...

Sorry no one responded. My husband smokes and we have had dogs for over 30 years. He does not smoke in the same room but I have not noticed any health problems associated with it. But I would continue to not smoke with your baby in the room if you can.

Aww i am sorry i never seen this :( in Answer to your Question my partner smokes, and i make him go outside to smoke. I wouldnt let him smoke around my little furbaby. I am sorry i did not see your post untill now. i hope more people answer you :) and you do come bk on the site :)

I was a smoker and my vet said it will affect dogs the same as it does people. It is bad for their lungs. I quit four years ago and feel it is better all the way around.

I would say at least smoking outside is the way to go for dogs and people.

Tell your friend lungs are lungs in all living things and smoking is not good for anyone with lungs.

Thank you for answering me, I thought the YTers would say that they go outside, I wonder who my friends breeder was I would love to talk to her, I can't believe she told Jasmine smoking around her baby won't hurt him, yeah right!

I just saw this.

I don't smoke. I would think that 2nd hand smoke is just as bad for animals as it is for humans. JMPO

Aw, don't feel that way. Just like the poster above me said, YT has gotten so big that some posts get overlooked! And to answer your question, I do smoke, and although I used to smoke around Harley (I smoke outside only), I don't anymore. At first I didn't think anything of it, but he sneazes when ever I'm smoking around him. I felt really bad, so I stopped doing it around him! I don't smoke inside at all, and I leave him inside when I'm smoking outside.

I am so sorry I didnt see your post. I used to smoke but never around my dogs. Dogs can get cancer and suffer respiratory problems so its definitely not good to smoke around them. I wouldnt purchase a pup from a breeder that smoked around them. Heck I purchased a parrotlet recently and the breeder wouldnt sell to smokers because smoke is dangerous to the birds. So you know it is for pups also

You are sooo lucky you never picked up the habit I sooo want to quit but it is extra hard, I tell you what though I used to go through a pack of cigarettes every three days, now a pack last about a week and a half but by the end of the second week whatever is left in the pack I have to throw away because they are stale, little by little I'm trying to ween myself off cigarettes, I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke.

What I meant by take her word for it is I find it hard to believe her breeder told her this I think she is lying to me so I won't get on her case, since no one answered at first I figured she is telling the truth her breeder told her that it was okay, I wish I knew who her breeder was, I think it's terrible, gizmo is sooo tiny too and extra skinny and his nose is always runny, i tell her all the time that must be from her smoking that he hardly has an appetite and his nose is always extra wet. My babies are all fat, my vet said I have to stop feeding them so much but I feel guilty when they go to their bowls and it's empty so I keep their food bowls filled and their water bowl, my babies are greedy but poor gizmo he is so skinny and he just doesn't look 100% healthy and when he plays with my babies he gets winded quick you start to hear him cough and he pants like crazy I tell her all the time she is killing him to give him to me he'll be well taken care of.

I don't smoke but if it's bad to breathe 2nd hand smoke I would guess anyone
with lungs it would be bad for. I hope you can convience your friend otherwise. Why even take the chance. Your smart to protect your little one:thumbup:
