I don't smoke but my husband, son and daughter do. My husband smokes outside when it is decent out in the dead of winter when the weather is bad he smokes in the basement. My daughter and son respect my wishes and do not smoke in my house. |
It is another web site from yt.com, it is 4WomenTalk.com. It is about yorkies, smoking, you name it. |
My Sister smokes and her yorkie Charley was a happy and healthy dog he passed away he was 17 year old . So I guess it did not hurt him. |

Hey girl, Im a smoker! I never smoke around my dogs. I used to in the car, but I got a new car and dont smoke in it at all anymore. I smoke outside of my house also. I just feel soooo bad that those little itty bitty lungs would get hurt by my smoking so I dont do it. I won't pick them up when Im smoking, I won't let anyone else smoking pick them up. I think your friend is mean to put that innocent baby in the way of second hand smoke! :( |
I don't smoke, but other people have smoked around Kacee and she coughs if it gets too close to her. She is the same way if she happens to get too close to me when I'm cleaning windows. Windex makes her cough. I've noticed any strong odor does this to her. I don't know why, but I keep her clear of people smoking or chemical sprays now. They are like people. Some are more sensitive than others. Now, nothing like this ever bothered Muffin. So, you never know. |

P.S. My husband said my worst problem is my lack of patience. So I understand not being able to wait for a reply ;) |
I don't smoke. And good for you for not smoking around your dog. My only input here would be that, when I go out with friends to bars where smoking is still allowed I am miserable! My eyes hurt, I stink and I cough for days! When I leave it's straight to the shower to clean up, I have long hair and it takes soooo long to get the cigarette smell out. Even though I had a good time:cool: I am not saying anything to diss smokers, some of the coolest people in my life smoke:D but, yorkies have a nice coat, similar to human hair, I couldn't imagine what your friends dog must smell like. I would think that dog would be miserable! People that smoke around pets and children are a little morally questionable in my book. Especially in this day and age! |
I'm a smoker and I do NOT smoke around my dogs or kids. Only outside. I guess your friend has never heard of all the people getting cancer and other respiratory diseases from second hand smoke:( |
Several years ago, my daughter and I found an older yorkie and brought it home with us. The poor thing could barely breath, it was just pitiful. When we found the owners, he told us that "Molly" was his deceased Mother's dog and had emphysema from his Mother smoking around her for years. Which ironically is what killed his Mother as well. So tell your friend, that if the breeder told her that, she's smoked one too many ciggies! Common sense tells us that if it's bad for humans, it's bad for dogs! To be honest, I don't even like for anyone to touch my dogs if they've been smoking. I can smell it on their coats. YUCK! |
Three out of five people in our house smoke.. we all go outside.. not once has any one of us even thought of smoking inside.. my mom used to smoke indoors.. we had white walls.. or so we thought... you should've seen them once we repainted:eek: But to the point.. althought we don't trap the dogs in a locked room while we smoke.. they are outside with us.. and we do hold them if they want up.. but I (I think we all) make sure to blow the smoke the other way |
Sorry I was a little busy during my day but here it goes: You could be killing your companion animal. Although the life-threatening effects of breathing secondhand smoke from cigarettes and cigars have been scientifically established in human beings, scant attention has been paid to what cigarette smoke does to cats, dogs, birds, and other animals who share homes with smokers. "Smoking around other living beings like dogs is just as much a problem as smoking around children is," Anyone who lives with animals and must light up needs to be responsible enough to do it outside. It’s easy, and it could prolong or even save your animal’s life." |
