Yorkie And Parrot My Ree_C Cup favorite pass time is letting my African grey give him kisses.I was concerned that they would not bond because my grey is very demanding of me.Their bonding is so sweet, when my toto(grey)has had enough,he says get back.He will throw food out of his cage to feed Ree-C.Just wondering if anyone else has any funny or different stories like this one that can be shared.

The chi took off running like he'd been stung by a bee. I wish I'd had it on video.

| Yorkie and Parrot We had a Maltese and a blue@gold Macaw and they played tub of war with a sock. His name was Kojak and when I put him out, when it was time to come in, Cleo would yell, "get in here Kojak, right now".

Ah, a good bird tale! I have parakeets. Sargie has always been so jealous of them - even though they never leave the cage and I don't give them all that much attention - that it is almost impossible to get near the cage. I spray Sargie with water if he is doing something wrong (now I just show him the bottle), but the one thing it never worked with were the birds - he just tries to drink the water and keeps barking. One night I accidentally left the cage door up and hours later one of the birds got out (the same one who got out once before - same accidental jamming of the door - when I went on vacation. He ended up living behind the refrigerator - in the refrigerator works - for days before he was found and rescued)Two lives appear to be the limit for budgies, as the second time he escaped Sargie got him and shook him to death. It was the middle of the night and I heard a commotion but didn't think it was more than Sargie barking at the cage because if they flap around at night he will run and bark at them. He plopped him in front of me the next morning as a gift, like a cat would. Then my neighbour behind me, who had two Yorkies, plus ducks, chickens, rabbits etc. and an African Grey and a conure, told me that one of her Yorkies killed the conure and she had to give him away, afraid he would get the African grey. So I haven't read any good stories about Yorkies and birds until now. Nice to know some of them live in a peaceable kingdom! I don't think anything will reconcile Sargie to the parakeets. When I fill their food cup, he gets wild and tries to grab the seed box from me. Since he can't get at it, he goes to the wastebasket (if I dump the hulls in there) and tries to dump the wastebasket over. Sometimes he mills around the floor beneath the cage (you can always tell - face full of seed hulls). All jealousy! Of course he can be rather cute. He doesn't like it when my boyfriend (who gave him to me and "knew" him before I did) gets close to me, so if there is any way he can reach us - if we're sitting down, e.g. - he injects himself between us. He also understands the word "kisses" as do many. Recently we were in the car and Michael leaned toward me - Sargie jumped up to stick himself between us - and said to me, "Give me a kiss". So Sargie, who had previously only been poised to separate us, kissed him. Well, at least I think he said it to me.

When I brought LexiLyn into our house we had quite an acclimation period. My 11 yr old Toy Fox Terrier didn't care for her much and would snap at her when she got close to him. The shrill shriek she let out each time completely captured my 2 Greys attention. Now I can't tell if the dog's hurt or the birds are playing. I don't let them interact because I don't trust the birds. They tend to nip at anything close to them. Then laugh and tell you "ouch". I know when the dogs are under the cages looking for food because the birds tattle, telling them "NO! GET OUT OF HERE!" I have 2 dogs in the house but it sounds like a kennel when all 4 animals get to barking. I can't even tell the difference as to whos who. One big happy family!

My 23 year old Alexandrine parrot " Asia " loves to throw his toys on the floor so that Remy will take them and then he yells for me to come. Asia loves to watch me chase Remy to get his toy back. He will also toss food onto the floor for the dogs to eat ! Eileen
