For a community so close to nature and God that they don't want/need the evils of modern man and yet they would go to such extremes for the almighty dollar, I just don't get it...

They even have pictures of "Amish" on their website. A true Amish person isn't supposed to allow their picture to be taken because it 'captures part of their soul' and they won't be allowed in heaven.

Meanwhile, the amish have the highest suicide rate per capita - FAR above the national average!! I've seen that published several times and for the life of me can't figure it out. If they were truly in touch with the powers that be...

Such a contradiction.

guys , i got to jump in here. this sight may not be truely amish. it could be they are using amish as a selling stratagy. some dishonest people use that stratagy as a way to make money.
amish people are not bad people. the amish people that i know (and are related to) would never in a million years act this way. like all other religions there have their good and bad people.

As true as that may be, the midwest is FULL of amish puppymills. The Amish mills are some of the worst mills in the country. These are the people who debark their Dogs by hammering a pipe down their throats. Niiiice huh?? I'm sure there are some really nice Amish families out there. There are good and bad people in all walks of life. Trust me, when it comes to business the Amish are pretty savvy. They breed for the pet store industry and sell to the middle men - THAT is where the "Amish" Puppies come from. To the Amish, Dogs are just livestock and probably some of the worst puppymills can be found in Amish country. The more I learn, the less I think that their way of life is "quaint" - it is just plain backwards.

I agree...WAY too tight on the collar in that one pic. And the others have at least 1 thing that I could say negative about their general appearance/temperment....from pic alone. Sad, sad, situation.

We have an Amish area close to me,, How about they dont drive, etc, but yet they will all pile in someone elses van to go to APPLEBEES, or Texas Roadhouse, or WALMART,, it infuriates me,,
We were in their area once and they had a sign that said " Yorkies for sale"
So I said STOP, I have to check this out,,, So we get out and there is this ancient Chi. with a bad limp walking around,,, ( RED FLAG) and all these wild, inbreed cats everywhere, eventually MOSES ( actual name) comes down off the hill from plowing,, about 45 mins after we got there,, and another guy and his son had stopped, to check on a Cocker spaniel for his son for 4H, so he ask the price of the C.S. MOSES responds 475.00 ! He says " oh I cant afford that, its only for 4h,,, away he goes, Im thinking " I can only imagine what the Yorkies are" SO I ask,,, he says 1200.oo male 14-1500.oo female... I about fell down! I said " can I see them?" he walks toward this pole barn, I follow, he stops " you cant come in here" I say " YOU expect me to pay over 1,000.oo for a dog and I can see how its living? he looks at me ANd goes in and closes the door, and I hear it LOCK! he brings out 2 fat, furry females, they looked ok, and pretty clean, I fondled them, and said NO THANX,,, I wanted to grab em both and run to the car and take off,, I dont think he could have gotten to his horse in time to catch us! ... anyhow he did tell me he had cockers, yorkies, ****zu, chi's, poodles, and corgis...
I spoke to numerous people in my area about it, but got nowhere since they are everywhere out there...
