Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!! It's a bummer that so many of our babies have this issue. I seriously DON'T know exactly where she is going to get them, but it really seems that when the BF takes her out, she comes back worse than usual. Even right now she has some in her armpits and I'm waiting for Chris to get home to take them out bc I can't stand hearing her yelp!! Right after work I am heading to Petsmart to get some spray on conditioner to try that out. It really seems like it will work like a charm, thanks for the excellent idea, HOT POD!!! |
They are a pain in the you know what. Chachi get them on him also. I spray a little detangler on them and work them out with my fingers |
We have this problem from time to time and have found that if you use some Baby Powder on the fur it helps to loosen up the sticker burr from the coat...with having show dogs I have to be really careful not to break their coats and heard that this is the best way to get them out. You may have to use alot of Baby Powder and work it into their coat, but with some tender care, the burrs will come out!! |
i have this problem all my babies have long caots and they always get them. |
HAH! To the original poster of this thread.....take a look at one of my blogs that I posted a couple of weeks ago. We feel your pain. :p http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/blo...nightmare.html |

If it ever happens again where they get covered in them, I will definitely try using some spray conditioner as I do have some. I don't know why I never thought of that the last time  Stupid me! Most of them I was able to get out just by losening the hairs, but a few of them were SO stuck that I had to actually cut them out with a pair of scissors  Geez, I will never for get that night...it really WAS a nightmare, lol! |

Lacy and Rylie get them too...Rylie has a thick cottony coat that is like a magnet for everything. I don't think the stickers are hard to get out of their hair at all though. It just takes me a couple minutes of pulling them out or combing them out to get them. I can't imagine them actually getting matted in unless the dog was already matted or they were left there for a long while. |

It may be a negative to living in the country, but the country is always so peaceful (we used to live in the country as well). By the way, that view of yours sounds fabulous! :) |

Maddie gets them all the time too  We call them hitchhikers and I hate them!!! They are so hard to get out, even if you do it as soon as your walk is over! I'm gonna try the leave in conditioner idea! |
