| ![]() Hi my name is Laura. I got my new baby Isabella last friday. I need some advice! 1) She does not like treats so vet says try little bits of cheese to reward her for going potty. Well the cheese was a big hit but has constipated her! Any suggestions for a treat? 2) She goes outside to potty at all times except usually 2 and 4 in the morning. I put her on a puppy pad at night. Does anyone thing this is wrong to do. 3) She is only 7 weeks old. Any and all advice would be appreciated! Thanks. Just reading some of the posts here has helped so much! Laura ![]() |

| ![]() Welcome to YT and congratulations on being a Yorkie owner. Seven weeks is very young to be away from her mother but it's done. Try tiny bits of boiled chicken breast. Boil a chicken breast and just take little pieces of it when you go outside to potty. One breast shouldn't be used after three days in the refrig so use small ones. Also very small pieces of liverwurst will do the trick. My trainer told me that and that is how I trained Buddy in a couple of weeks. Remember to use this special treat only for potty. Don't give it any other time. It has to be speical. Liverwurst you can get only a couple of pieces at a time at a Deli so nothing goes to waste. Remember to keep them tiny pieces. Good luck |

| ![]() Welcome to YT ![]() ![]() ![]() Great Advice from everyone. Yes 7 weeks is quite young, most of us got our babies when they were at least 12 weeks, that's a big difference. That extra time with their Momma's really helps them learn and be socialized, but you have her now, so what's done is done. Just remember that she is still like a 'new born' baby - so baby steps (no pun intended - hehehehe) Anyway, YT is a terrific place with extra-ordinary people, all willing to help you with your new baby - so stick around your gonna LOVE it here ![]() |

| ![]() welcome Laura, Great to have you here at YT. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Liverwurst is a great treat, they all seem to like it. You might try offering your original treat in a couple weeks, as they seem to mature a little and then like more kinds of treats. Good luck, and keep posting.

| ![]() Welcome to YT and congratulations on your new little one. We have Hot Rod on pads as well as going outside. We boat alot so we chose to keep him doing both. I would say that it is up to you on what you think is best. The vet has told us that it would confuse them, but it didn't seem to bother either one of my pups. They knew where the pad was and they would stop playing and run to it when they needed it. Good luck~ ![]()

| ![]() Seven weeks is to young to be away from mom and littermates, but what is done is done, and it's important to take steps to ensure she will be well balanced. When you take her out to do her business, say "go potty" when she starts (not before!) to pee or poo. Praise her verbally, but not to excitedly, and pet her to reward her. Do this every time she starts to potty. After a while of consistency, she will learn to go on command. At her age, she should be going out to do her business every 2-3 hours. I do not advise using puppy pads, but some people think they are wonderful. Also, make sure you take her (hand carried) to meet as many people as possible, to as many places as possible, to well socialize her. There is more info on house training here: LDT House Training |

| ![]() WELCOME!!! wow that is young ... with Gracie she wouldnt touch her treats so I just praised a TON when she went potty... then after about a month she started liking her treats... so just try the treats you have for her every once in awhile... thats AWESOME that she will go outside and on the puppy pad too.. what I was told is that it confused them... so i never tried it... I just stuck to the outside potty! and from day one that I got Gracie she slept through out the WHOLE night! Im SOOOOOOOOOOOO lucky!!! and Gracie was also 12 weeks... so good luck and lots of yorkie kisses! sounds like you are doing a GREAT job so keep up the good work! edit to add... be paitent your baby will get the hang of it! sooner then you think Ive only had Gracie since feb. 19 and shes been potty trained for at least 2 months now... so keep your chin up.. it does seem like it takes FOREVER but its not... then again EVERY dog is diff.

My furkids Donating Member | ![]() welcome to YT! My girls use pee pads most of the time. I work and don't think it would be fair to crate them for 9 hours a day. For the most part they will use the pee pads...They do go on the floor sometimes though. I would use plain boiled chicken breast. You probably wouldn't want to use to much cheese...there's alot of fat in cheese and I don't feel that's good for their little bellies. jmo

| ![]() Thank you so much everyone. I totally agree, she should still be with her mom. I questioned the breeder and she said the mom stopped feeding her and her brothers at 4 weeks. The only reason I went thru with it is I knew several people who got pups from this breeder and had nothing but good things to say. And she was sending pictures regularly and I was already in love with Isabelle! Had I been a little smarter I would have asked more questions but like you all said whats done is done! I took her to the vet an hour after I got her and the vet said she looks great. Thank you all again for your advice. It is so reassuring to know I have YT when I have questions! Laura (and Isabelle too!) |

| ![]() Hello. Welcome to YT. My 2 yorkies Angel and Zoey love the puperoni treats. I tear off just a little of it and they gobble it up. Again, welcome to you and Isabella.
