| I don't think you need to rehome him. I work 8 to 4:30 and sometimes later and mine are fine. I know you feel guilty because he's alone for so long but since he is in a pen with room to play I'm betting he's more then okay and the anxiety is more on your part. Just make the time you are home with him quality time. You are doing fine. Big hugs.

| I have to agree with everyone that just because you work full time, that is no reason to rehome him. I worked full time when we first got Tucker, and I used to sit at work and think about him being home alone and it would kill me. (and he wasn't even really alone, we had another dog). Anyway, I retired a yar and a half ago and what everyone is telling you is true: even with me home all day, Tucker still spends most of his time sleeping. As long as you are giving Leo lots of attention when you are home you don't have anything to worry about. And, he doesn't know any differently if you've worked since you got him.

| I know you said you couldn't afford another yorkie, but what about looking at local shelters for a small breed that would be cheaper than a yorkie, and a best pal for Leo? We originally adopted our lab for our golden, then evantually got Ranger- for me! We joke that Nitro (lab) is Lila's (goldie) dog! She stopped chewing things in the house after we got him because they keep each other company. I work at home two or three days per week and can attest to the fact the dogs mostly sleep ALL DAY! Ranger doesn't sleep as much as the others, but he's only nine months. When he's not sleeping, he lays down and chews a bone for hours. Good luck and don't make any quick decisions.

| Explore all options before you get rid of your baby. I know I'm in a little different position than most, but I take my baby with me to work most of the time. But, when I leave him at home, I have the kitchen blocked off so that if he does have an accident it's not on carpet. Please don't get rid of your baby. He'll gladly wait for you to get home. Those are not long working hours. He does not care how long you are gone. He'll be happy that you are back. Don't do it. You will regret it. That's my two cents worth.

| Finding a rescue doggie to accompany him during the day is a good idea. I really don't think you need to rehome him, you sound so torn up over this. I feel like if you do it, you will regret it later. |

| Hello - I am sorry you are going through this ![]() My boyfriend and I are gone from about 8am-6pm every weekday. We have a dog walker who comes 3 days a week and then we each take a turn and go home one day a week. It is hard and gets costly but it is so worth it to me and for Lula and for my own peace of mind! We keep Lula in a play pen with her bed, tons of toys, food and water always and we leave the TV sound on for her throughout the day. We also give her the Kong right before we leave each time. She is just over 6 months old now and I am hoping to give her free reign of the living kitchen area in 2-3 months once she is fully trained and maybe when the biting calms a bit! It is hard at 1st without a doubt but it is doable!! Good luck!

![]() And everyone does always tell me that dogs have no concept of time so maybe that will help you rest a little easier? I know it doesn't really help me either

| I agree with everyone, keep the baby! Of course I have more than 1 to keep them company, but, they also watch cartoon network every day! Makes them think someone is there, they just don't know where they are!

| I have found a great doggy day care that I leave my baby at during the day so that he is not left alone during the day in a x-pen since most of my house is carperted and the only places he would be able to run around in is the bathrooms or basement and felt that would be tough on him. It costs me $15 a day for 5 days and works out well since by the time he comes home walks, then eats he is so tired he falls asleep thru the rest of the night so he gets all his exercise and company while there. |

Have you looked in to doggie day care or a dog walker for Leo at least for a few days a week for some company?
