| Tornado in Suffolk, Va!!!!! I am sure most of you have heard about the tornado that hit Suffolk,VA on Monday. I live in Virginia Beach(about 45 minutes drive away).Fortunately, Virginia Beach wasn't one of the cities the weather channel had issue a tornado watch for but my hubby and I were prepared to take cover or run to the nearest shelter just in case . There's a school nearby our house so we probably would have took shelter there and we were thinking about bringing my "cutie pie" yorkie with us in her travel carrier. I will never even think about being separated from her. I know shelters don't allow pets in it but what about schools?Do they allow pets in these kind of emergencies? I know there's no such "safest place" for our pets in these catastrophic events but where can i take her (in such a short warning) if she can't be with me? Also, for any of you who have had experiences with tornadoes, hurricanes etc..... Where did you take your pets to in case you couldn't bring them with you?Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide me with. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | neighbor. Me too. No, you can't take any animal to any public shelter. During hurricane season when I have to consider "what if"....my plan includes...staying at relatives or finding a hotel room...well inland. I'm glad hurricanes come with advance warning...cause the other day had it been necessary...it was gonna be mightly crowded in our bathroom tub with 3people, 3 dogs, and 2 cats.
