We sneaked Gracie into Target once and there is a sign clearly on the door that she was not allowed. We had her pet stroller. It was in November so we put a blanket over the top of it that covered up the netting and pushed her around. Nobody ever said anything to us, but I was afraid the whole time of getting caught. |
I know it's "implied" that dogs aren't allowed where food is being sold or served. But does it need to be posted anywhere for dogs not to be allowed?? Or can they kick us out just if they want to. We've gone to places like automotive stores, office supply stores, places where there's no way they would care as long as they stay in the bag. My daughter lives in Chicago, and she said that they just recently passed an ordinance that disallowes dogs in outdoor eating areas (where they were previously allowed) but that restaurants could purchase a permit which exempts them from that new law. |

I live in a very liberal, sort of "hippie-ish" area where there are a lot of shops and cafés and lots of people take their dogs and sit outside with them. So I had Itsy out for a stroll the other day and decided I really wanted a smoothie. I picked her up (no way I was tying my 4 lb baby up outside and leaving her!) and walked in, figuring it would be no big deal as long as I was holding her. In this place they just make smoothies behind the counter, nobody actually sits and eats in there, so what would it hurt, right? Wrong! The lady behind the counter barely let me decide what I wanted before rushing me out the door to wait outside while she made my smoothie, then she came out and took my debit card, went in and ran it, and came back out to have me sign. I think I'll try a doggie purse from now on, too. ;) |

I haven't gotten busted yet. But then I figure, what's the worse thing that can happen???....someone will ask me to leave. Fine. No biggie. They will have just lost a patron to there store and I will go shop somewhere else. Really, most places don't mind that I have been in....but my lil guy doesn't make a peep. He is especially good if I give him a very special chew during his "purse time" like those bull chews....He loves:heart to those. One time in Target I had my puppy purse in the cart and it started to move quite a bit cuz he was really going after his chew toy....and someone walked by and said, is there a puppy in there? Sure enough, they wanted to take a looksie and adore him for a bit. I tell ya what, my little pup is a heck of a lot quieter and more well behaved then a lot of children that I see in stores & restaurants and such. |

:yay_jump: Love breaking all the rules! Great fun! |
You are such a good storyteller! I love taking Pinky in the bag with me. My other two are more nervous and really do not enjoy going. She loves to go and is very quiet. When we went to Indiana to visit my in-laws she went everywhere with me. She is my undercover girl. |
I really try not to take Jeter in a store that doesn't allow dogs. BUT once I had him with me when my husband got off work at 3 am, We ran to get gas and I took Jeter with me in his carrier, I knew they wouldn't mind us taking him into the gas station, my husband buddy works their. So we are heading home and he decides to go into Kroger's, I was going to stay in the car and he said "Oh just give me the carrier" so I go in with Jeter and he was sleeping the whole time, not a peep out of him! Me on the other hand was so darn nervous:eek: that I was going to get busted having My dog with me:eek: I did stay out of the Produce area though! I mean I know they would of just asked me to leave and all but I never liked getting yelled at or in trouble when I was a kid and That is what I felt like, a kid sneaking around;) |
Sounds like you guys had fun!!! Glad you didn't get caught in walmart, and that's funny no one noticed especially since you bought the bag from there!! |
I love your story, it is so funny, can just picture it. |
