| AHHH! New Puppy Is A Dorkie!!! I got a message from my breeder this morning with the newest picture of my little girl Wednesday. She had unfortunate news. Come to find out, her brother who owned the yorkie she bred her female with also has a mini daschund and at some point during breeding when no one was looking also bred to my puppies mom. She has apologized and greatly lowered the price of the puppies, just basically covering vet costs. She said she figured out something was wrong when two out of the five puppies were not getting long hair. I appreciated her honesty and after much deliberation and tears looked at all the pictures that I have of Wednesday and it didn't matter that she wasn't full blooded yorkie, I love her and her puppy face. She may never have long hair, but she's still going to be small as she was the runt of the litter anyway. Here is the newest picture of my "Dorkie" Wednesday...

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Aww how cute. But remember runt doens't always stay the smallest. Some catch growth spurts. You gave me such a chuckle. I was thinking you were gonna share some silly story about your yorkie being a dork...lol.

| SHe is still very cute and I don't blame you for getting her. I would too. I had a daschund growing up and they are great little dogs. Congrats on the new puppy. When do you get to bring her home?

| This is VERY irresponsible from the breeder. I don't understand how someone would keep a male near a female on heat if they don't one them to mate? But it is really nice of the breeder to leave you the dog at cost. That show that she care and I am sure she does feel bad about it. And by the way you puppy is EXTREMELY CUTE!!! Precious little one !!! I love puppies! |

| Yep she's got me wrapped around her little finger. What can I say she had me the moment she tried to nurse on my nose. The little scamp. From what I've read this morning about mini daschunds they usually weigh up to 9 pounds. With her mother being 4.5 lbs I figure she's probably going to be standard yorkie size. At least I know she's not going to turn into a 25 lber. I should be able to bring her home next weekend. She has a full clean bill of health and has her shots now. I just hope that the breeder is able to find homes for the others if they don't take theirs. I know there was one woman flying up from Florida for hers. At least the breeder is doing the honest thing and letting all of us know before we pick up the puppies and pay her for them. Accidents happen in the breeding world, I'm just happy that she's willing to make it right.

| Congratulations on your dorkie (at least she'll have a nickname! ) !! She is a doll! I think the breeder should tell everyone buying pups from her (even the ones whose pups look more like yorkies)... that there is a possibility that their is dacshund in the lines. Unless she has them DNA'd she can't say that some of them are 100% yorkie. Wishing you all the best with your new bundle of joy!
