| Yorkie for $200 on Craigslist-Suspicious I answered someone's ad on Craigslist about a female yorkie. She said the dog is 6 years old and spayed. She comes with crate, leash, bowl, outfits, everything for $200. She wants no references. She just wants the money and for me to sign a paper saying when I received her she was healthly. First she said she couldn't hold her for me to get to see her. It is a 2 hour drive and I worked today. She said that she had other people coming to look at her today. Now she says neither person showed up and the family that had her a few nights did not want her. They got her groomed and her face was shaved really close. And she thinks she lost a pound. She said she took her to a vet and she is fine. And now she is willing to hold her for me. Does anyone think this is strange???

| hmmm - I would ask her if you can have her vet's name, so you can get the dog's records. She could be on the up & up, but if she can't produce vet info & records for the dog that should tell you a lot. Especially, since she wants to sign a paper about the yorkie being healthy - that's strange - if you're not a vet, how are you to assess that? Why is she rehoming the dog? It's hard to understand why she just would give her up to someone without references or info, given she already gave her up to one family

| Makes me think the dog has some kind of medical problems...

| Here are the emails she has sent me: Yesterday: The adoption fee is $200. She is healthy. Her adoption fee will also include her bed, kennel, leash, collar, harness, bowls, brush, outfits, and any food I have left over for her. I am meeting with a potential family tomorrow. She went to the vet last week and she is healthy however they did find worms which she is currently on meds for. That is the only problem we are having right now with her health, thankfully it is treatable. If the meeting tomorrow does not work out in Porshe's favor I will email you and keep her for you until Wednesday at the latest. My house to too stressful for Porshe now and it isnt fair to keep her unhappy. I hope you can understand. There is no references needed. Today she sent : If you are still interested in Porsche she is still available. The potential home was not working out. They shaved her face!!!!! The potential family has had her for a week and I don't even think they were feeding her! I got her back today and she looks so miserable! They threw her bed away too! I am taking her to the vet today to see if there is anything else wrong. But hopefully she is good. I would be willing to hold her for you now. She needs someone who is going to consider her a part of the family like I do. Please let me know when you would like to come see her. I said I am a little confused. I thought a family was coming to look at her today? That you still had her. So someone else had her and you got her back today? Did they say why they shaved her face? What did the vet say today? I went to go pick Porsche up today from a potential family. The said they took her to get groomed. Why the groomer shaved Porsche's face is beyond me but it is shaved! She has been doing a trail 4 day visit to see if she was compatible with the family. There was supposed to be 2 different people coming to look at her today. But neither showed. I knew the day before yesterday that Porsche was not going to stay with the family that was having her over. The vet said that besides dropping a pound she is in good health, thank god! If you are still interested I would like to place her a.s.a.p. She needs the stability and security. I looked up her phone number and it is a CA number. I googled her email address. It brought up a myspace account that says she lives in Fla. I emailed her and said no thanks!

| Poor yorkie Thats a shame to just want to get her gone no matter what. I wonder has she had her all these years? If so, she wants to get rid of her now. Somethings not right. I don't blame you for not taking her. Im afraid of who she might let her go to. I was on Criegs l list one time and tried to post one yorkie female and they took out my ad. Said selling animals was not allowed on there. You can only give them away, or adopt them out. So how are they letting her sell her.? I FEEL SO BAD FOR HER.

| The ad was flagged and taken off. On the DC Craigslist a lot of posts get flagged. She did not put an amount in the ad. She just said the dog was a rescue and she needs to find her another home.

| you just never know. I got my Westie off Craigslist for $250. She was 6 years old at the time. Sometimes people's circumstances just change, and they can't keep a dog. In my case, this young woman was pregnant and she had too many dogs (3). She felt overwhelmed and needed let 2 of them go. Her loss was my gain, since Breezy is just a WONDERFUL little companion. So, I think it could be legit. Look at it this way--what do you have to loose besides the drive time? What would she gain by getting you to go to her house? |

| oh---craigslist does allow a re-homing fee, but they don't allow people to sell pets. So what's the difference? I don't know. But I paid a $250 rehoming fee to get Breezy. |
