| Shedding What does it mean when people say Yorkies dont shed? I dont think that this is true because I tend to see Izzy's hair a lot. I will also occasionally see small bits of hair in a ball around the house. Or when he rolls around on my sofa. His hair is pretty healthy, shiny and not dry at all. What do you think?

| Uh I never find any of Abby's hair anywhere expect in her brush when I comb her. It is recommened that ppl with allergies get Yorkies because they do not shed. Maybe you should get your pup checked...

| Snickers will be 1 soon and I have yet to "shed". When I brush him some hair will be on the brush (but this is very little). He sleeps in bed with us and we have white bedding and I never see any hair on my bed. It is starting to get warm around here so maybe he will shed. I have heard that yorkies don't shed too.

| Oh I am confused now (not hard for me!) I was told that Yorkie's did not 'shed' 'malt' just like a Poodle That is why their fur can be on the greasy side if not washed/bathed..... Look forward to reading other posts regarding this subject. Tink has not hair on her brush or comb, I brush her daily. But she is only 19 weeks old, this the reason?

| Yorkies don't "shed" anymore than a human will shed. Yorkies have hair, just like a human and not fur. Yes hair will fall out occasionally and will definitely come out when you brush it, but to see hairballs rolling round is not typical for a yorkie. I know that my cat has hair all over the place and fur clumps rolling around, but never my 2 yorkies.

| Bella doesn't shed either, the only hair that comes off of her is on her brush.

| Ryder and Tucker both lost a LOT of hair for the first year ( you would be covered after holding them ) but it has slowed down now ( they are 18 months old now ) but they still lose hair . I brush them and have even changed their diets . The vet said there is nothing wrong with them that they just are losing hair like a human does . They are both purebred Yorkies . I couldn't say the hairballs rolling in my house are from them though .... we just blame the cat for those ! |

| Jezebel does not shead. I never see her hair on anything. I thinks my hair comes out more than hers.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Magic doesn't shed except for like what I shed, the normal amount of hair when I brush her or every now and again I will see her hair on the floor. But Sailor now she sheds alot...we are 99% sure that she is not full yorkie like we were told, b/c she sheds unlike most yorkies and her coat is more cottony than most. During the warm months we will find huge amounts of her hair around the house... Yorkies should not "shed" but rather have hair like a human which will fall out when it is dead...you will see hair falling out more while they are heat or when their puppies coat is changing!!

| What could be the cause? His hair looks and feels pretty healthy. I am positive that he is a full yorkie.

| Tessa doesn't shed at all. Sometimes there will be hair in the comb after combing her but that is it. My Lab sheds! All over the house you can see her hair and where ever she lies down, there will be clumps of hair left behind especially in the spring when she sheds her "down"
