Getting a chorkie? Any advice

I have not had these horrible experiences with my animals (the cat and the puppy). my cat does not pee around the house nor has she ever. i got her the day she turned 8 weeks, took her to the litter to show her where it was, and there she went thereafter. no mistakes! maybe females are better? the same goes for my little pebbles. maybe i am lucky...maybe the breeder just trained her well before I got her but she has only peed off the paper about 5 times in her almost 5 month life. she also holds her pee all night while she sleeps with me. since day one! she just likes the paper. I used a training spray with her and was very religious about taking her to potty during the correct times. I didnt want to crate train her and I am currently in the home so I have time to train her. She also does not chew on anything... but she does do the nuzzle biting of fingers and toes that comes with tiny breed puppies. I think knowing what to do and how to train the animal properly is important. With that said... My moms dog is a good example of what not to do! My mom did not have the time to train the chorkie. she was away at work and he had alot of time to himself. HE CHEWED EVERTYTHING. couch, fences, crates.. anything. She was also not religious with the potty training and he still to this day marks around the house if he does not have his potty pad on.

I remember there were small children next door when she got him.. there was this small 4year old girl and she would come over and play with him. SHE picked him up quickly one time and DROPPED HIM ON HIS HEAD on the CONCRETE! luckily he was fine...but if a 4 year old were to drop my 2 pound puppy on concrete she would likely be seriously injured or dead. And this is the size of the puppy you are looking at. So. I would always be supervised with the 2 year old, only play on the ground, on soft surface, etc.

Everyone seems to be discouraging you, but I KNOW there has to be families out there with small children that make it work for them and the animals end up ok. there has to be.

However, I do agree with everyone about your husband. it makes me uneasy. he kind of sounds like an "animal hater," a term me and my friends use to describe people who didnt grow up with pets lol. i mean it in jest but still, he does sound like he didnt grow up with pets. they will throw up occasionally, there will be accidents eventually. even if they were raised by CEASER the dog whisperer.. they will get old and probably start peeing around the house lol I ideally would like your husband to love the animal more than the carpet... maybe he will though. Sometimes those little animals melt even the toughest of hearts. I mean, Pebbles has got everyone I know cradling her like a BABY, singing to her and rubbing her belly! even the "animal haters." If shes doing this, anything is possible

a couple months ago we got a chorkie how do u train them not to snarl a nd show there teeth wen he is getting introuble i know some say he is only 6 months but still we nbeed to train him ?

I have a chorkie n my baby is not a mutt I hate when I read that on things ! I love my lil girl n she looks just as yorkie as my papered yorkie did she is black n tan n fluffy and a doll baby

Doesn't make sense? Revive an Old thread. You may love your Chorkie it may be a very good dog but it's still a mix breed. Not that anything is bad about that. What I don't like is I can get 2 Purebreds. Not know there health history. Breed them sell them for twice as much a puppy thats is from Champion stock. Simple because ppl aren't educated on dogs and think it going to be a healthier dog. Which is far from the truth.

read all the posts, all that you read are from ppl that have through training & house breaking puppies..... a 2 y/o baby and this tiny breed spells disaster for the puppy....... Also PUPPIES ARE NOT POTTY TRAINED WHEN THEY ARE SOLD. That becomes YOUR JOB. this puppy will pee & poo & puke on the carpet unless he / she is kept off carpeting until it is 100 % potty trained. with your husband not wanting a dog, and this pups makes on the carpet I see the pups new home in a shelter, your husband will not stand for it, and puppies chew everything, I had a puppy chew my wall....... There are so many dogs in shelters now because wives went against hubby's wishes and went forward and got a dog anyway. Its beautiful for a child to grow up with a dog, but the wee lil breed you fell in love with is toooo fragile with a 2 y/o running around the house and grabbing a wee lil pup. please think carefully, if you are a TRUE LOVER OF ANIMALS think carefully, what a shame it would be to have this puppy end up in a shelter when a couple that agrees to get a dog and knows what is involved in training a puppy( because its peeing & pooping in places that will upset your husband).
