I am so glad that Rogan is ok. That happened to one of my son's dogs a few years ago. We were so scared...tried the heimlich and nothing happened. Jumped in the car to go to the emergency vet but decided we wouldn't make it in time so stopped at the fire station and ran in. Now picture this, it was late at night and I guess the door we ran into was their living quarters....they were sitting around in their shorts watching tv and here comes this old lady and her scared 16 year old son with a choking dog in his arms. They were like what are we supposed to do

They took Hoot and put him on their kitchen table where Hoot decided to throw up the piece of treat he had caught in his throat

We sheepishly left and all was well.

OMG! I'm so glad he is ok..everytime Pixie gags or something i jump up and check her out..i'm so paranoid about it. ((hugs))

I'm so glad your baby is okay! I give my two pupcorn too and they love it! I'm sure going to watch them closer when I give it to them, I already break it into two or three before I let them have it.

I know how scary that is. And it's like life freezes and everything is going soo slow. Thor grabbed this huge chunk of meat (why do people leave these things around??) when he was a puppy, and as i tried to get it out of his mouth , he swallowed it whole! It didn't fit, and he choked big time. So scary!

I hope this never happens again to your pup, thank goodness he's ok!

Rogan and I thank everyone for the well wishes!!!! I guess becasue he's a bigger yorkie (15lbs) I forget I need to break his treats up too, like I do my tiny ones. Well lesson learned thats for sure!

He's doing good, although I do notice his breathing is rhaspy. But he had more treats after lunch and he is acting normal.

What a scare is right! That poor baby. And I bet that he was scared too

Tatum chokes VERY easily....we have had so many scares with her choking that I cannot even count them all. I have to watch her like a HAWK with treats and I have come to realize that I can only give her certain ones. ALOT of them she just cannot handle and will start choking right away. And no matter how many times it's happened, she scares the HECK out of me every SINGLE time.

My boss gave my puppy a puppy treat and she started choking on it. She lightly squeezed her neck then tapped the side of her neck a few times and it came right now. She told me her vet to her to do that because her dog used to choke on a lot of treats.

Glad he's okay!
