| Baxter is turning white!! The hair at the base of Baxter's skull is turning white!! Other places are turning gold as they are supposed to -feet, ears. But what about the top of his head? Is that normal? A friend of mine said her yorkie changed colors 3 times. I really don't car what color he turns. The black and tan suits me. Also I think he is going to have the cottony coat not a silky coat. Any advice on how to care for it? |

| Yes, that white can be normal. It's not the color for show. I would keep your pups in a shorter puppy cut. You can use a comb that has teeth that rotate, a pin brush, thinning shears if you need to thin it a bit. Horse products that work for matts or keep the hair silky are Cowboy magic, and I like Show Sheen hair polish ( made by absorbine) for all types of coats. Spray it on after you poo and comb through. You can find them online catalogs, and in tack and feed stores. |

| the hair on bentleys head came in VERY white too (a platinum color) ... it makes him look bald lol i thought i remember a discussion where people thought the platinum color was an indicator that the pup will turn the correct color of gold or have a silky coat (i forget which) i think it is normal here is a pic of my kiddo so you can see his head

| OK.. I am going to have to hone my Minnesota slang skills.. I was reading your message "Spray it on after you poo and comb through" and wondered to myself WHY would she have to POO before combing it?? LMAO

Bella's looked totally white, it is now a really light blond color and very pretty. I am pretty sure it is normal for it to look white when they are breaking color.

| I bet he's adorable! I was kind of shocked when Jamie's hair turned white too. He's like the leaves in the seasons, because he just keeps changing colors. People at work think I got a new dog everytime I bring in new pictures. Here is Jamie when I first got him at 8 weeks. He was black and dark gold with a small blaze of white on his chest and the tips of his paws. Here is Jamie @ 4 months. His roots were snow white on his head and I thought he has a cotton coat too because he was soo hard to comb and there were always knots. Here is Jamie yesterday. While its not standard yorkie coloring, he has a beautiful coat thats platinum blond around his head and a light to medium silver all over. He never gets matts anymore. It turns out that all those tangles were just his puppy coat. Once it was cut off, the adult coat was so much easier to brush.

| Rylie has a cotton coat, and I'm growing it out long. It just requires more grooming because they matt easily and stuff from the ground tends to stick to their hair. It's worth it though because I like long coats

| Jamie looks so much like Baxter!! Thanks for the advice on the coat. I was hoping for a NO-KNOTS dog. I had enough of that with my pom!! His hair would knot up if you looked at it. |
