| I Need Your Help A.s.a.p. I have made an appointment for a showing of my first Yorkie Baby. Since I am a novice, I would greatly appreciate all your advice right now. What are the most important things I need to ask this breeder?

| I know there is a thread on here somewhere about questions to ask the breeder. Maybe some of the other YT'rs will post it. I would ask these questions: How long have you been breeding? Do you have other breeds? Do you participate in shows or belong to a kennel club or YTCA? How many litter per year do you have? How many litters has this female had? Is the stud available to see? Do you have the pedigree? What kind of health problems are in this pedigree that you know of? Have the parents been tested for all the health problems assiciated with the Yorkie? Do you offer a 1+ year health guarantee? Are the pups sold on spay/neuter contracts? What kind of food and what shots has the puppy had? these are just a few off the top of my head. The breeder should not be offended by these questions and be happy and able to ask each one. Good luck!!! |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Personally before I ever went to see a puppy...first and foremost..I would ask whether the puppy has received testing for any congenital conditions. A negative response to that question, I would thank them for their time and continue my search. An affirmative answer and I would ask...whether they own the sire and dam, and are they available for me to see, their size, what testing has been performed on the two prior to breeding, their size, how many litters have they whelped, vacinations given, dew claws removed, inquire about their health guarantee, and/or contract you will be expected to sign. Good luck.

| I would definately ask for the telephone number of the Breeder's Vet and authorization from the Breeder for the Vet to discuss this Breeder's dogs. Ask the vet what testing has been done on the Breeeder's dogs. |
