| Strange Behavior!!!! Okay, Madeleine has begun doing this really strange thing at feeding time. She sits at her food bowl and barks constantly. It's like she is afraid of the food bowl! She skittishly walks around it, hides behind my leg and REFUSES to eat out of it! I got worried that she just wasn't eating so I would take some out of the bowl and place it on the tile in front of her bowl and she eats it up real quick and then barks until I will put more out for her. It is so strange and is making me crazy!!! She's almost a year old so what brought on this behavior?! I know I should have never started appeasing her by taking the food out of the bowl. Does anyone have any advice for me???

| MY Toby began doing this around the same age and has never eaten out of a bowl again. For some reason he really dislikes it and refuses to eat if I don't take it out and put it on his own special place mat. LOL |

| Wow! It's nice to hear Madeleine isn't the only one! Does Toby drink out of his water bowl okay?

| Does her bowl move at all when she eats out of it? Daisy doesn't like to eat out of anything that slides at all, even a little. It seems to scare her for some strange reason.

| Roxy has a few tricks like that. Sometimes she will bark until I hand feed her. She always makes me stand and watch her. If I have the phone in my hand or are talking to anyone else, she barks, stomps her front feet and kicks her back feet until I stop and give her my undivided attention. She throws a mega fit if I leave the room when she is ready to eat. Nope, no spoiling here - the dang little Diva .

| Wow that makes sense... the water would weigh more and not move around as much. I would bet that was it! She was barking because she thought the bowl was moving. They can be so funny

| That could be it! Her food bowl does move sometimes and it makes her jump.

| I bet it made a noise and now shes scared of it, this happened two weeks ago to my oldest daughters english bulldog, the cat knocked something off the stand and it hit the dogs food bowl and made a loud noise while she was eating, Now she wont eat out of it, she stands and barks and acts scared of the bowl. lol so she has to put her food on a mat beside it. | Maxwell decided he doesn't like a bowl if he has to stick his head down too far. So I found an antique lead crystal ashtray from the 1950's with 1/2 inch sides. That's his new dish and he now eats without hesitation. |

| Are you sure she can't see her reflection in the bowl? We had Bogart's bowl in front of the oven (this mommy doesn't cook much ), and once he caught a glimpse of himself in the reflection of the stove/oven he was afraid to eat there. They are so silly! |

| I had a Pomeranian that wouldn't eat out of her stainless steel bowl because she could see her reflection in it and it frightened her. Is it a stainless steel bowl that she can see her reflection in? |

| Oh My, these Yorkies are so funny! If my furbutts think that I am leaving or I ask them "Do you want to GO with mommy"? They would all run to their food bowl and take 1 kibble turn around, make sure you are looking and chew it so hard. They would keep doing this until I tell them "OK, you can GO", then they would run to me and push my leg. |
