| ![]() I went to the vet's yesterday to purchase Fontline. April is here so Bud get's put back on flea/tick preventive and Frontline is what I use. Paul, the receptionist told me about a new product on the market this year. It is made by Frontline and kills the ticks that Frontline leaves behind. I know Frontline does not kill all kinds of ticks from past experience. He stated that he has been using it on his four yorkies with no effects at all. I am always afraid of new things but being cheaper than Frontline I figured I would try it. I purchase 3 vials. It's called VECTRA 30 Ingrediants: PINOTEFURAN 4.95% PYRIPROXYFEN .44% PERMETHRIN 36. 8% I really hate these products but I have to use one from April-Oct. We are loaded with deer and woods all around our development not to mention fleas in the grass all year long. I thought you might like to know about this product. I hope it works and Bud has no reaction to it. I applied the first application this am. It is used the same as Frontline. Frontline works for him but I found a couple of ticks on him buried and not killed by this product. I called Frontline and they stated it does not kill all ticks. This is suppose to within 6hrs. We'll see. |

| ![]() Do you use flea/tick preventatives with their livers? I think permethrin has caused liver tumors and liver damage in mice...

![]() Last year I found at least 5 dead ticks in the house, 2 that I took off Roxy that were crawling on her, 1 deer tick was attached to my stomach, and 1 that was attached to my husbands stomach ![]() I also use Interceptor - and again, I have no choice, the mosquitios are VERY bad in the summer by us. ![]() I'm so glad I do have a choice. I do use heartworm preventatives though. If you are going to stick with regular Frontline Plus, you could ask for just regular Frontline and replace the Plus (Methoprene) with Program since Program has no side effects... Not sure this would work but it's worth asking...

| ![]() Methoprene and Program make it impossible for fleas to reproduce. I was thinking that Program had no side effects (except nausea and depression...) but I didn't realize that Methoprene doesn't really either. I did read somewhere that it does but the stuff is even added to our food supply. ![]()
