| What do you think about changing a dogs name? We went yesterday to look at a puppy 8wks old, but when we got their she had 2 from another litter that were 13wks old. We fell in love with the little girl but they had already named her Maddy which is cute but our other dog is named Maggie Do you think we could change her name and this age? Names we are considering are: Ellie, Chloe, Miley. Thanks, we really liked this doggie but didn't know about giving her another name |

| She's very young. I don't think it'd be a problem.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I changed Reese's name at 15 weeks and know plenty of others who did the same thing. It's fine... Can I vote? Ellie. I like that one best.

| name I change names all the time...I bought a girl at 3 yrs and changed her name since I already had one named Chelsea. My Pinkie Fizz took 3 months to learn her name...she came every time I called TuTu....dogs adapt to new names with no problem I find. |

| I just got my male who is 6 months old and I changed his call name...he took to it the same day and answers everytime...even to a variation of that name. We call him Murfee but I call him Murf, Murf the Smurf, Smirky Boy or Mr. Murfee. We have a Maddie too...her sister's names are Megan and Molly. |

| I've fostered old er Yorkies that came into rescue as abandon so I've had to give them names. They pick up on them really fast. They don't really realize what a name is, they just go by the sound when it gets familar. |

| Chip's name was changed at 1 1/2 yrs, his name was Charlie at the rescue org. He responded to Chip immediately, some dogs were meant for certain names so its not like they even have to learn it. Harley I just kept it as is, since he didn't fit any of the other names I picked out beforehand.

| We changed both our Golden (at one year) from Milo to Lila, and our two year old lab, Nitro from the name Kiro. They were both rescues, and both responded to the new names within hours. I don't think it really matters, honestly. Good luck!!!!

| I think whatever you choose for a name your new furbutt will learn it very quickly!

| yes you can change a dogs name. When I used to breed, I named the pups as soon as they were born. When the new owner took a pup they usually changed their names, even at 16-18 weeks of age. They all adjusted just fine. I also do rescue, and the new owners almost always change the name, and there are no problems with that either. JMHO... Sue & Cricket |

| I just got a new girl several weeks ago (a miniature poodle). I was told by the woman who had her that she was about 5 months old, and her name was Amy, but I didn't like that, so I changed her name to Savannah. When I took her to the vet to have a check up, they told me that she was more likely about a year and a half old It's okay though, because we all love her to pieces and she gets along great with Summerlin. The point is, though, is that she didn't care about her name - I think she cared more that somebody wanted her to be on their lap and to follow them. She started responding to us within a day when we called her by Savannah. I don't think your baby will mind, either
