Buddy's being evicted! My smooch of nearly 8 months is being evicted. My husband and mother seem to think that he will be happy outside during the day this summer and want to fence in the yard. We live in a pretty quiet neighborhood and I don't think anyone would mess with him, but I'd hate for someone to take him. Right now he is on the enclosed front porch which isnt small but he doesnt have a lot of room to roam and because we are gone to work all day he uses the bathroom there, which is making our house unliveable! When we are home with him he lets us know when he has to go outside so I guess he is halfway potty trained. Does anyone else leave their yorkies outside while they are gone? Do they seem to be happier? Buddy loves being outside... I just wish we had another dog to keep him company.. but my husband says "no more lap dogs!" What's a gal to do? |
Its not safe for yorkies outside, hawks grab them up and there not out side dogs, theres a lot of predators out side wolfs, cayotes, foxes and other dogs. |
So he will be in a fenced backyard??? Couldnt you just get a doggy door so he could potty himself?? |
OMGosh...is this a joke? Yorkies are not outdoor dogs! They are meant to be inside in a safe environment, unless outdoors and supervised. There are too many dangers lurking for a yorkie left alone. Theft, birds of prey, other wild animals attacking them, getting out of the fence and lost, extreme high/low temps...the list goes on and one. Try an x pen to confine him when you are gone. Leave food, water and pee pads for him. Please oh please...don't put that poor baby outside! |

What this gal would do is rehome this precious baby with someone who will keep it safe and secure inside. i can't imagine anyone putting their baby outside like this. Surely this is a joke!!!!!!!!!! |

My dog is never allowed outside unattended...too many dangers. Someone could steal him, he could eat something toxic, someone could hurt him, another dog could jump the fence and hurt him, he could get out of the fence and get lost or hurt, he could get overheated, wild animals/hawks could get him..just so many things can happen! I suggest using a crate and starting over with training or have him wear a bellyband so he can't pee on the carpet. Don't keep him outside |

I couldnt agree w/you more! |
Oh honey Please try to find another solution. It is so dangerous for these little babies to be outside by theirselves. Good luck |
I would never leave my dogs outside unsupervised all day. That is just asking for trouble. What happens if it rains or the dog digs holes under the fence and gets out? Please do everything you can to talk them out of this. It isn't safe. |
The weather could be issue and more... Maybe, you need to rehome this baby? or put up other half outside? I would never leave any dog outside for long periods... someone may posion the baby. |
I agree with everyone !! These little dogs aren't meant to live outside and you're exposing him to all sorts of things.... not to mention the weather - I like the doggie door idea - with an expen ...then he can come inside when he wants.... Personally I'd NEVER have a doggie door with a yorkie - but if you're going to leave him outside while you're all gone - then it sounds like the next best thing Shoot - my girls were never out in the yard alone except for a second or 2,,,I watched them very carefully when I had a yard - ..but to be outside all day ? never. I hope you change your mind and let him stay inside where it's safe |
It's not advisable, why not make a small playpen inside the house for them to stay? This is much better than a big open backyard. |
Maybe you can rehome your husband for the spring & summer?:icon5: :D On a more serious note, I agree with everyone else. It's really not safe for your Yorkie to be outside by himself all day long for all the reasons that were already said. Please don't feel were being mean or picking on you, were not, were just concerned for Buddy's safety. :) |
My two cents... Doesnt he only have 3 legs? That would make me worry even more! I would not put him outside. I would crate him inside or get an xpen until he is potty trained. |
