Please no no no do not put that precious baby outside! Yorkies are not made to be outside!! Just as everyone has previously said its not a good idea for many reasons!!! Please do not put your baby outside!! Im not gonna repeat all the reasons everyone has already said...just trust us we are not lying to you. I promise. Plus you said in another post that your baby only has 3 good legs, that one is completely straight and doesnt bend...thats just another reason not to leave your baby outside unattended. Please change your mind and get a pen or something...anything besides putting him outside. I dont mean this mean or rude-Im only thinking of Buddy's life and safetly-but...Think of your baby over yourself...he cant take care of himself...he relies on you to take care of him and putting him outside is only puttin him in danger. Please dont do that him. |
:confused: I thought you said back in 4/1/08 that buddy was 11 months old? Wow, I've never heard anyone leaving their "lap dogs" outside before, especially all day, unsupervised. Perhaps your husband and mother needs to be educated with how owning a dog this size should be taken cared of, especially if your dog is already disabled. From the looks of your previous posts, you care very much for Buddy and would do what is best for him. Please reconsider the hazards you are putting him through by leaving him outside. If your husband your mother doesn't want him in your house during the day or if rehoming is not an option, do you have a garage you can keep him where its safe, warm, and comfortable? |

I want to share this story with you. I have a secure fenced in back yard. I always watch the boys when they are out in the back yard. One day when I was standing at the sink doing dishes, i look outside and see a huge black lab in my back yard. He was not neutered and had JUMPED MY FENCE. He was going from back yard to back yard by jumping fences. This happened about 5 times in one summer. I finally spoke to the owner and told him he should have the dog cut to curb his urge to wander or be more responsible to keep him in his own yard. I explained I have 2 dogs under 10 pounds and if he comes in my yard while they are out, bad things would happen. I wanted to share this story with you to show you dogs aren't always safe in their own back yard. Please reconsider leaving him outside. I'm sure you could find someone that would be willing to gate them in the kitchen to keep them from pottying on the carpet. |
I agree with everyone - yorkies are not outside dogs and too many things can happen while your away. Once last year, my two went out and managed to get out of the yard (and we were home) it took them all of 5 minutes to disappear. we ended up looking for them for over two hours before we found them, it's amazing how fast and how far they can wonder away. Please try to get him to change his mind, it's just too dangerous. |
I agree that your baby should not be left outside all day unattended. An expen in the house would be a better idea. I DO NOT agree that a response to this thread has to be rude. I alittle compassion and understanding and HELPFUL suggestions would be more in order. Seeing as the OP didn't ask for suggestions, just if anyone else did this..... |
Not a good idea to leave Buddy outside. Maybe a xpen/playpen would be better:D |
welcome to the board:) it is not safe to leave little dogs in the yard unsupervised! hawks could get them or a wild animal. i know in the summer time here we have hawks flying around here a lot i never leave them out by theirself. plus its too hot to leave them out for a long time. maybe try a xpen |
I have a good idea for you. 1: Put in a doggie door. 2: Build a pen with walls and a roof made out of some sort of strong mesh--essentially a cage--and connect it to the doggie door. 3: Make sure the cage is pinned down to the ground so it can't be lifted up. If Buddy is a digger, you might have to enclose the floor with mesh too. Now Buddy can stay in the house, but he can go outside to his safe enclosure when he needs to do his business. I was planning to do this when I thought I was going to move to a more rural area. |
I just read this thread.. is this person for real.. I do not see any more posts.. or did I miss one.. why would anyone come to a yorkie forum and say they had to put their yorkie outside all day... I am sorry and not trying to be rude.. but I just cannot imagine at the price of a yorkie.. that one would think it was ok to leave them outside.. have a neighbor or some one come and let that baby outside.. come home for lunch... or maybe find a new home that does not have a husband that could see this happen.. I just see people getting upset at a post like this.. and why would any one make a post like this to begin with is beyond me..:eek: :eek: |
The way I look at it... I wouldn't want to be outside all day. I would be a nervous wreck if I knew Jasmine was not inside all snuggled up on the couch with her blanket and animal planet on...I wouldn't be able to do it. Please don't keep him outside he can get into so many things and not to mention I have a big patio with a screen enclosure and hubby was out side in the yard and Jasmine was on the patio and he said a hawk came swooping down and landed on the screen enclosure he had to throw a broom at it to get it away...what would of happened if he wasn't there and she was in the yard....it would have been a tragedy...JMO I couldn't do it.:thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown |

Please, please listen to what the others have said. I have posted about this before. I lost my little Tigger, because he was snatched by a hawk from his very secluded dog run. He had access to it from a doggie door and ONLY went outside very briefly, each time to go potty and then would come right back in...(Yes, Yorkies are never outdoor dogs). In those few moments he was taken from us..... that's all it took. I have since had a cover built over the dog run. One last thing. How hot exactly does it get in your area??? Can you imagine being banished outside all day long yourself, in the heat of the midday sun in the middle of summer????? I just have no words to describe how this breaks my heart.:( Lauren |
shower curtain X-pen and shower curtain and your problem is solved. Put him in an x-pen w/a shower curtain (clear) under it. Leave piddle pads, beds, water in it. This is where he lives while you are gone.... if he has to go he learns to use the pads but if he doesn't...who cares...it is on the shower curtain that you can mop! It is great! I learned this from someone on here and I loved it this winter! |
