Whenever I have Britney and Brooklyn groomed, I have them remove the top knot. It's so much easier and, IMO, better for them. I feel so bad for Yorkies (and other top-knot breeds) who have so much hair in their eyes that it effects their vision. |

I forgot to mention- you can see Britney and Brooklyn in my avatar. |
I have been trying to comb and redo Bizzy and Jersey's top knots every day. But I seem to be combing out more and more hair! They are finally at an age that they leave the top knots in, but now they are losing hair. Yikes, no perfect solution. |
I have your solution! 1 Attachment(s) I keep my Melody in a way that she can keep her topknot, but alo leave it short in front so that when she has no bow in, it stays out of her eyes! It is called 1/2 & 1/2. There are "bangs" in front and long hair on top of her head. Here is a picture of it. I am not sure if it will come through here or not. It will allow you to keep her topknot it you ever want to put a bow in, or leave the bow out and the hair will just naturally go off to the sides without it looking like a mess. It is hard to describe here. I also have a\different style of topknot that will stay in all day and not come apart. I have a unique yorkie grooming DVD that shows you my techniques. It is available through my website. :animal-pa Sue & Cricket |
Adie is really good about keeping her top knot in but she hates having her hair brushed or combed. I decided to cut hers off and regretted it immediately. She is really cute without it but not as pretty as she is with it. (See my avatar.) Don't cut the top knot off! |
I just love topknots, on boy or girls. I had a hard time keeping Joey in a topknot until I read this link. It describes how you use several bands, the first band is lower, keeping hair out of eyes and the second band pulls hair from further back. The bow even stays in when I use this technique. http://www.thedivadogbowtique.com/howto.php |
when lacey was so ill and none of us thought she would make it i cut like 3 inches off hers and i wish ithat i wouldnt have done it. i miss seeing her hair that long on top. |
1 Attachment(s) Well, you know Bengi :) If someday I get a girl I would probably try the topknot, I think there are so cute bows out there that I wish I coudl buy some... as well as the dresses and all that cute girly stuff... But I don't know the work involved in keeping the topknot, the bangs are easy and I think they give more attitude :D |
Don't do it! It makes them Yorkie-ish! All mine have the topknot, i just cut Teddy's hair but his face is still long and he has his looong topknot, i can even braid it, it's too funny. Ppl always thinks he's a girl but i tell him he is metrosexual.:p |

Love your new photos of Blaze and Autumn and of course, you and your children! Haven't been on to much. My Dad is in the hospital. We have been there night and day for three weeks. It's nice to enjoy a little Yorkie talk when I come home. My sister is there tonight. We have our shifts all day. Regards from your friends, Marilyn and Remi |
Gracie and Hallee can not stand bows or anything in their hair. We keep their top knot shorter, but not real short and seems to work okay. When we used to keep it longer they would always get lots of tangles in it. |
No top knot for Bailey! 3 Attachment(s) She hates them and I'm okay with that! :) |
