I think most of us posting on the topic over the last couple days understand about puppymills. If you read the threads what we are saying is some people, including myself, were unaware of the puppymill issue at the time of purchasing our dogs. Having said that, again I think it's harsh the way people have attacked posters in this thread when they are new and didn't know any better. So how about educating rather than the whole shame and blame game?? There is a way to teach people that does NOT include judgement, blame, and just plain out rudeness. You may find people to be much more open to listen if you can set a positive example, rather than crucifying them.

Melanie. I am educating. If you went down further and read what I posted regarding the original poster you would have seen that, I said "As far as the OP not coming back. I think that's a shame because it's one less person we can educate about Puppymills and Pet Stores. Ten years ago before I was educated I bought my first Yorkie from a BYB. I know better now. First reaction for some is to jump and scold best reaction is to educate for that will hopefully prevent."

As far as what you quoted me on that was directed to linsvs. She is quoted as saying tha she has TWO pups that she bought at petstores and that she can't honestly say she wouldn't buy from a pet store again and she further went on to state whose to say who is right and who is wrong. That to me seems like someone that does not care to be educated / someone that does not care about puppymills.

I am a firm believer on educating and not judging but when someone buys not one but two dogs knowing where these dogs come from then comes on here and says she can't say she wouldn't do it again and defends this by saying whose to say whose right and whose wronge. That tells me this person is in capable of being educated.

I saw who the post was directed to, and I also have seen your posts. All you can do is share your experience and knowledge in a constructive and healthy manner.

Which I do but I have little tolerance for someone that even after being educated will continue to support a mill by buying from a pet store and defending it with a questioning who is right or wrong and this is what that poster did and I posted accordingly and without regret. End of story.

Puppy mills are not good but the puppys exist and they dont just go up in thin air because people wont buy them! Maybe the puppy mill thats trying to sell them will go out of business but you still have little puppys sitting around being treated poorly that have already been brought into this world and have no where to live!

I haven't read all the posts after I posted until now.. It seems someone feels I Dont care , so let me clarify what I do CARE about. I did say that both my babies came from pet stores and I think I also said both were rescues for me. My first baby came with papers which I started checking to see where she came from. It seems she was born in a place that had lots of bad reviews as being a puppy mill. I was terrified to think she could have health issues because of this. I do not support puppy mills at all, but I do think they are hard to close down and leaving babies stuck behind glass is not going to do much.. And My coment about not knowing whos right or wrong is that , just because one of our babies comes from a pet store, I am not going to TELL anyone how wrong it is, because if I went to a pet store and fell in love with a new baby I would be more interesting in giving it a good forever home then I would want to leave it because of where it comes from.many of us ARE educated but that doesn't mean we have to all feel EXACTLY the same way about it.I hope nobody reads meaness into this message theres allready enough of that on here.
