I got bitten by a rottie today....

As a groomer rottis are one breed I do not trust. I cant tell you how many I have been bit by for no reason at all. I was washing one a few months ago and he was all happy wagging his tail (I do know the difference between a happy wag and a nervous warning wag) and he just turned and bit me for no reason at all. After that point I couldnt get anywhere near him and had to send him home wet.

Beth, I think you did the right thing shoving him off. He went after you because he wanted to be dominant. If you had freaked out, he would've known that he had control over you and done A LOT more damage. Don't make yourself fear dogs, because being strong against them will protect you more.

The thing is I am not sure just where he lives. He lives in the area but I dont' live directly there..I used to live on that block about 10 years ago but I drive down that way after I drop the kids off to school to park the car and then hop on the train to get into manhattan. I have friends that live on the block still. I am going to ask if they know the guy.

I would have tried to get his name and address and report the attack. They would have taken the dog and at least checked it out. That is really terrible! I am so glad you are okay!!

Yeah I wasn't scared...guess that comes from having pits all my life. My brother currently has trouble who is about 120lbs but he is the most gentle dog you can come across. He actually thinks he is a vermin chaser....we worry about mice more than dogs and cats with him.

Definitely if you show an animal fear they will go in for the kill. My arm hurts some where he put pressure...oh he sure put pressure it wasn't a puppy nip either. That is why I was so outraged when they guy was like "oh he is only a puppy" ...puppy my a$$.

He wasn't going to be stupid and give me his name and stuff. If he had broken my coat I would have definitely called the cops because I would have had a leg to stand on as far as getting his dog impounded.

Disgusting. Hopefully the next person he attacks is the jacka$$ he calls an owner.

If you still have a bruise on your arm, you should report it anyway. This time it was just a bruise, but next time it could kill.

I am not afraid of any size dog nor do I worry about the stereotypes associated with good dogs or bad dogs. But I know that dog has had to have shown aggression in the past. There is no way that it would have been the first time for him. My coat has some scrapes on it from his mouth. My arm hurts some and I have a bruise on my skin. I am so pissed right now. I keep thining what if I were someone walking with a child...lots of times I have my kids with me. He is walking in an area at the time of day when lots of kids are out walking to school.

you weren't so lucky and I'm so glad you weren't more seriously hurt - they can lock right on and not let go.....That man needs someone to report him - he can walk his dog when there are less people out. I try to go very early or at dusk with my girls and avoid other people - we mostly walk to the back of the apartments where there's lots of grass but still - a dog can come out of NO WHERE before you know it.

I hope your arm will be ok....not to mention - now you'll be more scared of big dogs which sucks cause so many really are nice dogs.

V I am gonna roll with dogs like I always do and love them anyhow but I will watch for signs of the dogs change.

I only walk Zoey in my yard or right around my block. Whenever I see a big dog approaching I pick her up. You just never know. Sad but gonna take all precautions.

Thank god these little guys dont' need a lot of exercise.

I am happy your weren't seriously injured but you should have called
a police officer and reported it. You have the proof the marks on your
leather coat and the bruise on you arm! Your right, next time it could
be a young child or a small dog. There are so many incompendent owner's
it's frightening! To make matter's even worse they all seem to have these
big dogs. Pits, Rottie, Shepards etc.

I'm terrified of big dogs. I've only been around a few that I felt safe around and even then I wasn't that calm around them. They freaking scare me to death.

I really hope that man get a muzzle for that dog. It could of been a childs face and then he would of had a REAL BIG problem.
