| ![]() OK, I have read and read and reread the threads about yorkie coats, and I really can not decide what kind of coat Preston has. Some of his hair is like human hair for want of a better description, and some of his hair is kind of fuzzy. He can go a couple of days without me brushing him, and have very few tangles though, and has never really had a mat. His tangles seem to come more from his sister (Bailey the basset hound for those of you that don't know) slobbering on him while they are playing. HA HA. So is the fuzzy stuff just puppy hair that will eventually be shed or grow out, or is it that he has a combination coat? His hair does not seem to grow very fast, as he still doesn't have enough hair to really have a top not. He is now just a little over 8 months, and I see all kinds of yorkies on here with long top nots and they are younger than him, so obviously his hair grows pretty slow. He has some wave to his hair, but it seems to be concentrated mostly on his chest, and around his neck, the rest is fairly straight. Any insight? I attached a pic for reference. Thanks Michelle

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Sounds like a silky coat to me. Silky coats tangle, cotton coats mat. The amount of straightness has nothing to do with the type of coat, and I think they usually do have a slight wave on the chest. Silky coat also grow the slowest. He's a real cutie. Silky coats generally show up with green eyes, but not in puppies.
