Also, how would one be improving the "breed" (ie. poodle, yorkie, biewer) by introducting a different breed in the mix. That is simply mixing breeds not improving a "breed"... it doesn't make sense regardless of what pure bred dog your talking about.

Obviously anyone can breed their dogs, thats a given it is not a legal issue at this day and age. However stating that the reason as it was seems to just be bait to start a controversy.

Cathi, It is never my intention to hurt anyone ever! I feel the OP was asking for opinions in the first post. I don't feel that I attacked her...well maybe the "you should be ashamed" part I apologize for that but having suffered with a puppymill puppy for 3 years until he died at 3 1/2 has given me cause. When there is talk of "bettering the breed" by mixing them with completely different breeds I always wonder, what breed are you bettering? Surely, neither of the breeds you are mixing. I would NEVER down anyone for their choice of dog, as I said I believe every single dog on this planet deserves to be loved and cared for. EVERY dog should be spoiled rotten with love IMO! BUT the truth is many of these designer dogs have serious health issues (I am NOT saying the OP is breeding unhealthy dogs...how would I know?) and many people who buy them because they ARE "designer dogs" end up giving them to the shelters because they can't house break them/don't have time/don't want the vet bills and so on, contact your local shelter and ask them. If the OP felt I was attacking I do apologize, I thought she was asking for opinions and what I stated is mine. I don't believe anyone was saying it was wrong for you to love/have a mix...that would be silly and wrong! My puppymill puppy Pepper, while being pure bred, was the scruffiest yorkie I had ever seen! LOL I would not have traded him for the world! I am truly sorry you were made to feel bad for your choice...that is just plain wrong!

I've never been hot on the word "mutt" so I prefer to call her a mixed up pup. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Oh yes, I think I figured that out by the "Aren't these the designer dogs everyone wants?" The almighty buck. And we wonder how Puppymills started.

If you truly love your dogs then you'll keep them as your pets and you won't let greed take over by breeding for mixes. There are too many mixes as well as badly bred pure breds that end up in rescue or shelters and that's the lucky ones.

I wondered that myself and then thought about the it being Easter, the admins and mod's are probably busy with family obligations. I believe it could in fact have a lot to do with the timing of the OP and done on purpose

Cathi-no one has said to hate these darling little ones that are of mixed breeds. All dogs deserved to be loved but as a person who has been very involved in rescue and has been in the death chamber at the pound it is wrong IMHO to continue to breed what use to be known as mutts as millions of mutts are dying every year in the pounds. Even though I did Yorkie rescue 2 of my little ones are mutts and I love them to pieces but obviously their original owners did not and threw them away. Until this country stops euthanizing up to over 5 million pets a year this type of breeding has to stop. We are trying to remember the feelings of the millions of dogs being euthanized every year.

Out of curiosity, who did you get your Biewer from? Does your breeder also mix the breeds?

In my opinion their perfect just the way they are.

They are cute(not necessarily cuter) than a yorkie, but, I have never seen any as small as some of the yorkies..a lot of them are still bigger than yorkies(although, they're supposed to be up to 7 lbs like the yorkies)..

Mutt: a pup of a litter from which the breed of the mother is unknow- and father not know for sure at all!

Hybrid- a informed, planned breeding between 2 know breeds to achive a desired result!!
this is the basic things - I have read on this
society has done hybrid breeding forever- the term hybrid/ designer has somehow got to be an issue

Both are good if done the right way! Both are bad if not!
I am not on either side- just hope all breeders- have healthy pups!

Don't know what to say. The result might be too unpredictable. You have some chance to get desired " designer" dog. Also same changes to get undesired looking. not only looking, but also unpredictable temproment. :confused: I feel it might not be a good idea.
