| Tatooing your yorkies??? Has anyone heard of this? My brother told me about a neighbor of his that has a yorkie and he had it tatooed and microchiped. I've heard of the chip but to tatoo,,,,, I have 4 tatoos and it hurt like hell. I can't imagine putting Gus through that. Do they at least put them under to do it? Does anyone have thier babies tatooed? And do you think it's a good idea?

| Doesnt exactly say, but im assuming is the basic idea of a Tatoo a person will have. It says thou that is painless and anesthesia is not necessary. I founf this other site http://home.earthlink.net/~pawsreflect/tattoo.html |

| I found a site as well,,,,, http://www.nationaldogregistry.com/nopain.html But would if anyone here has had this done to one of thier babies I really want to know more about it. After readig this site,,, I feel a little better about it. I take Gus everywhere with me and he gets a lot of attention. I never let Gus out of my sight but you never know,,,,, The chip only works if someone turns him in if lost. But if stolen, having your baby tatooed and registered may have a better chance of getting them back. I would really love to hear your inputs on this topic

| i think i would do it..if it meant i would have a better chance of getting coco back why not! if it isn't painful for them i don't see the harm in it. we use tattoo's to identify people all the time so why not our dogs too. i wonder how much it costs?

| If a tattoo is painless , why most of the puppies cry as if the person doing it is killing them ? I don't believe in tattoo . |

| According to the National Registry tattoing a dog or cat is painless. I have never seeing it done, that is why we were asking. SO have seen a pup being tattoing? If is painful of course I will not do it. I think microchipping is pain enough. |

| Mia has a tattoo in her left ear. That is how the breeder registers the babies (I think around 8 weeks of age). If we wanted to mircrochip, we could've let her know but by the time that we thought about it, Mia already had her tattoo. I told myself that our next Yorkie will be microchiped. The tattoo has a couple of numbers and a couple of letters, that's alot for a tiny ear. I was so sad when I saw her after her tattoo. Her ear had flopped and I was worried that it wouldn't go up again...but it did. As to how the vet does this, I don't know, but I do know that it's quick. But one good thing about the tattoo is that people will notice it so they know she belongs to someone if she ever gets lost. Some people don't know about microchips so if they would ever find Mia, they would never know she's ours if she doesn't have her collar on. I guess there are pros and cons for each option.

| Mignon is tatooed. She was done before I got her tho.Her tatoo is on her belly off to the side.It is 3 numbers and 3 letters. If I ever lost her and found her again thru the tatoo I would be grateful it was done. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | i don't think they need to put them under. one thing i know, it shouldn't be done on the ear. it should be done on the inside of the back leg, basically on the belly. if someone stole them and they were tattooed on the ear, they would simply cut it off, i know terriable, huh?
