I think you should stand to your guns. Maybe put things in writing from now on. It's really disappointing that we can't count on someone's word anymore.

As others have said, my deposits are also non refundable UNLESS I back out on the sale. Otherwise, my contract clearly states that if YOU back out of the sale, you DO NOT get any money back. My mom's good friend has first pick on Brooke's girls, and I still asked her to sign the contract. I would even if it were MY good friend. Bottom line, get a contract for EVERYTHING. That way they have no ground to stand on if they make ridiculous requests.
