| Custom dog houses I need some opinions... During the slow times of my school year, and maybe into the summer, I was thinking maybe I would start a little business of designing and making custon doghouses. I'm an architecture student, so I figure I'm qualified and I have shop facilities on campus. I was thinking of doing it just for the local area, and maybe doing one a month or something. Here's my question: Do you guys think there's a market for it? I see custom houses for like 5 grand a pop and I know I could do it for much, much less... What do you think? |

| I definitely think there's a market for it. I know I've looked. I say go for it! I know it's a touchy subject on here - BUT, dogs are very trendy right now and people are spending a lot of money on things like clothes and doghouses for their dogs. I think it's a great idea!

| I think if you can do it for less than what you are seeing you will do great. I know I would like one if it were cute.

| Go for it. Be sure to build a Yorkie Princess Palace - lots of us have Princesses. By the way, Biddy's mom, what is touchy about this topic? Did I miss something?

| If I do go through with it, I will definitely need lots of great ideas! I think the palace is a wonderful one. I was thinking it would be a benefit to have handles on them for easy moving. I guess I could start by putting fliers up... Maybe even design a few basic ones that are "core" models. I also think it would be cool to design some type of structure that fits over a crate, so if you crate train your dog, you can have a nice exterior for it. Any ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated! What types of houses would be cool? How much is a good price for a dog house? |

| I think it would be great if you could make a stylish doggy house, but for indoors and maybe even have a gate on the front of it so that you can use it for crating purposes too. just a suggestion.

| I agree. I would like to do smaller scale things that would be a nice addition to people's homes with a cute edge. It might be cool to do some that have a storage area for clothes and toys. The ideas are running through my brain. Thanks so much for your suggestion! |

I just meant that some people aren't crazy about little dogs being so trendy right now (Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchey, etc.) I know that there were a few threads where people debated on whether or not the popularity & trendiness of our babies was a good thing or not. No biggie, I was just commenting that since they are so trendy right now all these accessories go hand and hand with it...

| Doggy houses Don't forget the outdoors too! Here's what I had built for my little one to protect him from the hawks in my neighborhood. Yep, complete with his own fire hydrant! And yes, I am nuts!
