| Confused! When I took my boy to get trimmed and primped and all manned up my groomer called me an told me he was all finished but she had to cut his hair shorter than I had originally asked for. I asked why and she explained that his skin was way to dry. So now my poor boy has SUPER short hair and is all flaky. What can I do?! I want him to keep about a 2 inch puppy cut but she says he is too dry. Is it the weather?! |

| I don't think dry skin has anything to do with how short they cut the hair. I'd venture to say the groomer felt like doing what she felt like doing. Did your pup have dry skin before going there? What shampoo do you use?

| Hw weird... Maybe the groomer made a mistake and is using the dry skin as a cover up! Sounds very fishy to me and I would not be happy about it.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Oatmeal soap and a good conditioner like Relief. Omega 3 fish oil on their food. This combination does the trick. No more itching or dry skin.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Dry skin has nothing to do with hair length. Flaking skin be caused by not rinsing enough this is probably the most common reason. Wrong shampoo, and wrong diet, can also cause dry flaky skin, but it sounds like your using a good shampoo. This is one of the things Joey's breeder checked him for when we returned for a visit. She said rinsing improperly causes the flakes, and just wanted to make sure I was rinsing enough. Always dilute shampoo before putting it on them too. Cute pic in you avatar!

| We use the oatmeal of the petsilk. I think maybe because we just had some harsh cold here. It is getting nice and springy out now... maybe thats all it is. |

| Yeah I'm with everyone else. I can't imagine why dry skin would make her cut him shorter. Sounds like a goof- I'm surprised she didn't blame it on matts.

| she said a little of that too... but I do pretty well brushing him out so thats probably why she said the dry skin deal... Hmmm might have to rethink her a little. |

| If a groomer cut my dog a certain way after I had told her to cut her another way, and did not ask me first, I would NOT go back.

| Its okay because it does grow back... but the first few days he was acting weird. My mother in law used to groom and she said they do for awhile if they feel naked. I would have liked to been asked. I just wanted it to be good for easter : ( he is still a cutie though. I am a hair stylist but it just didnt make sense to me! |

| The human shampoo? Mine have a little bit of dry skin. I have to use all of the aveeno products (for me) because I have super sensitive skin... But I didn't know they had a shampoo? Is it a baby shampoo?
