she will be fine dont worry Rex is already neutered and he was fine, just expect her not to play alot when u pick her up

Somehow I think I will have the opposite problem, I will have to stop her from playing. She is full of energy. When she got her rabies shot her vet told me some dogs, especially smaller ones, have reactions and at best just become sleepy or lethargic. Yup Coco went on like it was a celebration day..I don't know, I think I'm worrying for nothing. She's a strong cookie.

Coco really sounds like my Katie's twin. Katie will be a 1 year old on August 5th and she's on 2.6 lbs ..... sounds like Coco is going to remain just as tiny as her. Katie is also a bundle of energy - nothing stops her from running around and having fun. I really think Coco will be ok. Your vet sounds great and Coco feels comfortable with him (with is a big plus). All you have to watch out for is Coco chewing on her stitches - unless they use internal stitches.

You can do this! It's in her best interest. SAbrina's 10 now and she was so small (just 5 lbs. now) that the vet wouldn't do it. He said she was too little. Now every darn time I go in he says "why didn't we spay her?" and I have to remind him. He says well now we have good stuff to put them out with that wouldn't hurt her. Fine - but now she's old enough it would be just as bad for her I think. I really worry. If/when I get another one - I'm having it done.

Just drop her off - get a buddy to go shopping with you like I did during the teeth cleaning fiasco - kept my mind off of it, and then pick her up and be ready to baby her through it. Poor little things. They just don't understand the things we do to them to make them healthy.

Well you can get a soft belly band (but ask your vet first because each vet feels differently about this - you don't want to inadvertently apply pressure to the wound and make it hurt or bleed). So if your vet ok's this, there are soft belly bands that work great. Or you can get that cone thing that goes over their head - they hate this!! But it does work.

I heard soemone once say that they sprayed the area w/ a little bit of bitter apple. But I've never done this because I'd be afraid the bitter apple would sting or burn or even cause an infection (you're supposed to keep the stitches dry too). So ask your vet first.

I havent spay Gucci yet. I have to call the vet to make the appointment. My husband doesnt want me too but I know is best for her. Dont worry about Coco she will be fine just make sure they use Isofluarane(sp) for the anesthesia. To prevent Coco to chew on the stiches I heard some use the e collar and others use an Onesie. For the day of the surgery do what is best for you, if you think you can be productive at work then go to work, if not take the day off. I know you will worry either way, is in our nature. Good luck. Let us know when you schedule the appt.

wait?!?! they were supposed to be sleepy after the rabies shot!?!?! rex was hyper as ever! just dont be to worried if she is verry sleepy

My gosh, she would hate the e collar. I guess the only way to avoid an e-collar and prevent stitch chewing, is to have her on my lap all day. Yes I asked and her vet uses Isofl...something or other..haha..I NEED TO DO THIS...I NEED TO DO THIS...I tried dialing his number again..haha....Gotta keep trying.

Darn It. I Finally Called And He Said To Call Him Back At 4pm When He's In The Office To Check The Calendar More Precisely...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...i Barely Got The Guts To Do It Now..

Ok I did it. I started bawling over the phone, and the vet probably thought I was a nut case, but I did it. Her appointment is August 19th at 930am, and I can pick her up in the evening. I can take a blanket/toy, whatever I want to make her comfy. He was trying to comfort me..haha...just to make the appointment.

And you get to bring her home later that day! :D She won't know what hit her..she will sleep until you come get her...and can spoil her to death! :p
Your a good Mommie...and this in the long run will be best for Coco. I know you know that. O.K....I'll be doing the same thing in about 6 wks after Coco has her surgery. I'll be nervous too! :rolleyes:

Post and let us know on Aug. 19th...how she is...K? ;)

rosie was spayed bout 3 wks ago was very sore on the day but woke me at 5am to play shes been fine since
