| Hi...I have a few questions I'm new to Yorkie Talk and I this is my first time being a yorkie mom. I am not sure how to take good care of my yorkies coat. I bought a puppy shampoo for him but, his hair arond his face looks kind of oily after I dry him. I'm not sure if it is the shampoo or if it is me trying my best not to get it in his ears, eyes exc.. What kind of shampo should I use? How many times a week should I give him a bath? I have read that I should not brush his coat when it is dry and not to comb it when it is wet.. How Should I brush him? What should I put on his coat before I do so? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give... |

| I use Johnson's Baby Shampoo on their face so it won't hurt their eyes, I bathe once a week but brush everyday with a good pin brush. |

| Mia is 15 weeks old, and i bathe her about every 5 days (give or take a day or two). She only stays smelling fresh for a day! She's a little stink! I use 4 paws puppy shampoo and i also use Buddy Wash conditioner (smells great!). I brush her at least once a day, and i also brush her with a small comb while she's wet. (Ive never heard that brushing while wet was bad thing?).

| Welcome to YT! I bath mine once a week (unless someone decided to go outside and dig then it could be more often) I use Minksheen on mine. I also have tried regular pantene that you would use on yourself. It works very well on Autumn since she has a very silky coat. Good luck

| Hi, welcome to yt. I give Murfee a bath at least once a week with Johnson's baby shampoo. Just FYI....if your baby ever gets fleas...Dawn original liquid detergent works immediately to get rid of them.

| I shampoo Remi a minimum of once per week and I use the Minksheen shampoo I found out about right here on our YT site. It can be ordered online. It keeps his hair beautiful, fresh, and tangle free. On his face and head I use the Johnson Baby Shampoo, so it is tearfree and does not hurt his eyes. I also use a liquid ear cleaner that I put on a cottan pad and gently cleanse the inside of his ears. Rinsing well is important. I am using Ultra Silk conditioner, another product I learned about here at YT. Remi's grooming table is the best purchase I made. It is easy to dry him on the table, as well as brush him. I wait until he is almost all dry and then I brush his hair in place. The dryer I purchased at a store called Total Pet Care is a free standing portable hair dryer. Having it a stand keeps your hands free to hold your pup and brush. When Remi is almost all dry I take the dryer from the stand, keeping him in the loop leash, and continue brushing. In between baths, any time Remi goes outside, his paws are wiped down, as well as "private parts". I found that this routine keeps him smelling fresh and looking shiny and clean. Hope you find this helpful! Regards, Marilyn |
