| I need to convince my hubby... Hello everyone, I want to convince my hubby to get a playmate for our little girl Priscilla ( 5 months). She is very tiny ( 2lbs) and I don't really let her play with other dogs ( all dogs in my building are big ). If anyone can tell me about they experience on having two yorkies. Do they enjoy each other? Do they fight? I am thinking about getting a boy. Thanks!

| I have a boy and a girl they get along great. They play with each their and curl up with one another. They rarely fight. I really like having a male and a female. I hope you can convince your hubby. You might tell him my breeder said they do better in pairs

| I have two girls. They get along great and love each very much. The thing I like the most about about having two is they have each other when we are not home.

| I have 2 boys and they also get along great. We've only had Andrew for a month but it seems like he's always been part of the family. They play together tons, nap together and are great buddies.

Mom to Marty & Maddie Donating Member | I have a boy and a girl and they are WONDERFUL together. They had a few squabbles over toys and food the first few days, but it's been great ever since. They cuddle together and love playing with each other. I could never go back to only having one! |

| I was wondering the same thing, I have a 6 mo male. I have been told it would be better to get a female. Someone also told me that since mine is pretty calm, another calm male should be okay. But I think I might be wanting a little girl.

| I have 4 inside dogs, 3 girls and 1 boy..they're just like human children, somedays they get along, and others they get a little not to nice with eachother(it's always the girls starting the problems)..My oldest yorkie is 14 lbs. and is the submissive one..except when it comes to the ball, she wants full custody of it...LOL |

| Hey Okay..... i was in a similar situation about four months ago. I finally convinced the hubby to let Jaya (who at the time was 5 months old) to have a playmate. So he brought another little yorkie home for christmas from the same breeder. That was the hardest time in my life!!! First off, Jaya was spoiled, and we thought the world of her...... she was the "PERFECT" dog to us. Then comes Jenna, who was totally different.....and it took me a long time to appreciate her for her rather than comparing her to Jaya. Jaya and Jenna initially fought quite a bit, however that was just to assert dominance. Jaya won, though because jenna will be bigger, and is now bigger, she tries to assert her power and so they still fight. However, there is soooo much love between the two of them. I can't take Jenna out of the room for a minute before Jaya starts freaking out "Dont u dare take her away from me. She's mine! not yours" is what she says!! She gets all weird and in a high anxiety state if i seperate them. Jenna on the other hand, I dont think could care less. She is the typical "baby" and just wants our attention. I'm waiting for her to get older before her attachment to Jaya grows. They are three months apart. ANYWAY, the point of my long drawn out post, is that it will be VERY VERY difficult in the beginning. Your pup will have to adapt to the new one, and there will probably be an immediate personality change in your current yorkie. I was really upset for a long time when Jaya changed... i missed her. I see some of her cute traits come back, but i have come to terms with the fact that she loves Jenna more than me. It was VERY difficult. But after the adjustment, I have never looked back. i love jenna, and its wonderful because they dont demand so much from me. They play with eachother, and i see how happy jaya is. She really did need a friend. It is worth it in the end. ----------oh, and the reason why we chose another girl, was because I wasnt comfortable with the idea that they'd still "do it" even after they were fixed........ haha... Its a little more work, but honestly, nothing noticeable. If you have any questions or anything, please pm me. |

| Hi Joana!!! You're like me... 1 furbutt is not enough!! I don't know, maybe you can tell your hubby that it's gonna be good to Priscilla having a playmate 'cause she won't be so lonely while you 2 are not home... When we brought Hannah home, Maggie wasn't thrilled about it... To tell the truth Maggie didn't want to be near Hannah at all , but she NEVER did anything mean to her new sis. , she focused her meaningness towards the house See peed on my bed, carpet, rugs, couch (even on the top of couch's back ) on a daily basis during ONE MONTH Then, when she realised that Hannah came to stay, she started to play together... Now they are GREAT friends, and NEVER fight... Hugs Katiuscia. |

| I have one of each and they are the best of friends. They play, chase eachother, share their bones and snuggle together. It really is so much fun having more then one. They really enjoy eachother!

| Two Yorkies are better than one We got our first yorkie puppy "Holly" in December 2005 at the age of 3-1/2 months. Although we didn't leave her alone very often, we still felt sorry for her when we went out to eat and she couldn't go. We always took her shopping at Petsmart and when she would see another puppy or small dog, she would cry and try to play with them. We called our breeder in East Texas and she had a female she had planned on keeping for show and breeding. This one was 9 pounds and had gotten to big to breed according to AKC standards. Our first female was already 10 pounds so we knew the size would be good for us. We picked up our second yorkie "Shelby" who was 1-1/2 years old. They get along great and in one year have become best friends. Guess you'll have to be careful to find one a similar size so that they can play and no one gets hurt, but I don't think you'll be sorry. Good luck. |
