I have put down a plastic table cloth (3.50 at dollar store) right in front of the gate I used duck tape to keep it secure, and I have to put a puppy pad down right on top of the table cloth I used duct tape to secure that also, the pad is right in front of the gate and thats where she pees most of the time . Ive tried to move it to another area and it doesnt work. She also has a closet area in the bathroom with food water and another puppy pad and she never uses it, but thats where I want her to go. Izzy is 4 months old. I feel so much more ease since I put down that plastic because I know pee is not sitting on the floor. As far as food we just started with a new one yesterday,the breeder had her on royal conin 33 and Ive bought Taste of the Wild (6 star and 21.99 for a 15lb bag at Tractor Supply) and she loves it, Ive just given her a few kibbles because she will pick these out and eat them and leave the RC and I dont want her to get the runs lol. Im sorry this is long but I wanted you to know that Im not having a easy time with potty training. Hang in there hopefully it will get better for us.

yes, you sound like you're having my problem.
but i don't fret about it TOO MUCH because the internet says a yorkie doesn't begin house breaking until 5 or 6 months, and my friend has a 6 month old yorkie who is nearly house broken with a few accidents so i'd believe it.

i'm just glad sophie knows to pee on her pads and outside.
i'm not stressing her too much considering she is only 11 weeks old,
but i make sure to reward her when she potties,
and never rub her nose in it or scold her too much when she potties on the floor.
i just pick her up and try to put her on the pad before she finishes her business.

thank everyone soo much for all the advise im really going crazzyyy. I love Cash soo much but, its becoming like more of a love hate relationship lol & i dont want that. i want to let him rome the house & everything. I will try all of ya'll's techines & see if he likes any of them lol. but any other advice please tell me ! lol.

I had/have this problem with Lexie too. I started feeding her a homecooked breakfast that is specially made from a Vet's cookbook for sensative stomaches. I feed her at 6 am then I leave for school at 9 so she has pooped. Then she doesn't get fed until her dinner which she is on a high quality food. I would suggest changing from Eukanuba. Beau was on that and his poops weren't as small and easy to pick up as they are now.

I got Lex a kitten kennel so it is VERY small..and I put a big fluffy blanket in there so it feels more like a bed than a crate. Also, I had her start sleeping in the kennel so she thinks of it as her bed, not just a place she gets thrown in when I leave. I would give this like 3-4 days and he will catch on.

This was recommended to me by a fellow YTer and it has worked GREAT!!!

Hi there, I read your first post and lately I have been seeing a lot of posts where people have been using crates to train puppies. I don't know how your schedule is like but just an idea, why not use an xpen? I can't stress this enough because although people think it is easier to use a small crate to potty train, an xpen would actually be easier and better for the puppy in the long run especially if your not home for a few hours at a time because puppies wouldn't be able to hold for long and you don't have to worry about rushing home. An xpen would be able to let you put a crate with the his pillow and blankie in it, just leave the gate open in the xpen. You can also put pee pad, water bowl, food bowl with toys and a small area for the puppy to roam. Put the xpen in tiled area so it is easy for you to clean shall puppy make any mess at all. The xpen would also allow you to keep it without taking up much space. You can stain the pee pad with some pee from your puppy to give puppy an idea to use it or use those potty training spray to put some smell on the pee pad. You have to start with this and eventually when you can trust your pup with 90% accuracy of using the pee pad, you can let pupp roam your house but it is always almost safer to keep them in an xpen when you cannot watch them when they are a pup because they can get in to anything and until you can trust them that they won't, do watch them closely. Sometimes they are too smart for their own good.

Just to add from my own experience, my yorkie now knows how to use pee pad with 99% accuracy and knows how to do it outside if we do go out.
