Moose gets his bath in the tub and we use a hand held sprayer. I mostly just use a wash cloth with J&J baby bath for his face, then rinse with the sprayer very carefully, keeping his nose/head looking down. I try very hard not to get excessive water in the ears, eyes and nose. Everyone is so worried about getting water in their ears, well I have always wonder about when they go swimming?? Water get in their ears then. What about that? |
I've also wondered too about their ears when they swim. BTW, I think there's a some very good tips on this thread. I'm very glad it got started as I have had these concerns when I bathe my pup. |
I do all I can to keep water out of eyes and ears. I have found that a soft bristle toothbrush really helps to clean those faces. |
Even though I don't do mine anymore, when I used to bathe them, I would rinse them by putting my hand over their face and nose and would do short rinses...All they do at the groomers is spray their heads, I've watched them do it, they don't take any precautions.. |
i hold morgan's face down by her beard so nothing goes up her nose. i don't worry about her ears getting water in them. I clean them when she's finished with cotton balls and q-tips. never had an ear infection yet. |
Great question I had no clue |
Great tips/advice...I always worry about this when bathing my lil one...I like the idea of the soft toothbrush...going to give that a try... |
I use a toothbrush too, but when i rinse i sort of cup my hand over their face and press down so their chin is down, they still hate it and fight me  i clean and dry their ears with Qtips and use the blowdryer a bit ! |
After Lucy's bath I always put ear cleaning solution in both ears. She has never had an ear infection. |
I use a washcloth also but it doesn't wash them too good, they are still smelly. So i cover their nose and put water on their face, just a little. It's hard though |

ok... I feel DUMB!!! I had never thought about that... but from now on I will be washing her face with a face cloth from now on!!! thank you!!1 |
i have a small fine toothed comb(actually the little one that comes with the slicker brush to clean it) anyway i use that to get all the eye gunk out of Gizzies hair along with a toothbrush around her eyes then i put my finger over her nose and quickly just run the water over her head for a quick second and it does the trick and she doesnt get choked...... |
I soften they gunk and use a eyelash/eyebrow comb. Our vet said not to get water in their ears. ziggy has had a ear infection before she was very sick. |
