| You don't need to let him get to her..6mths is way too early. |

| WHOOPS..I read that wrong..thought you meant she was already in HEAT! SORRY....A female can come in heat as early as 6mths..especially if she is a bigger size yorkie. But, my girls didn't have their 1st cycle until 11mths of age. I wouldn't breed the 1st time around..she is not mature enough..the vet says the 2nd is better or even wait until the 3rd. Everyone has their on advice about this. |

| This is a perfect time to get her spayed (as long as she isn't in heat yet), unless you are planning to breed. It is best to wait til atleast the second heat or 18 months in Yorkies to breed. Getting her spayed before the first heat greatly reduces her chances of getting mammary cancer.

| She could come into heat at any time, she may not come into heat for quite a few months more. She may come into heat and never show any visible signs (not bleeding or swelling). Last edited by BamaFan121s; 02-19-2008 at 08:36 AM. |

| I would assume that breeding is not in the future for these two pooches, given the nature of the question... But you are right...there is no time like the present. Have one or the other fixed to prevent the problem. |

| My first yorkie came into heat when she was 10 months old.. My two yorkie girls now will be 7 months on Thursday and the one I'm thinking came into heat (her hoo hoo is bigger than it was a few months ago and her nipples are noticeable - but then again maybe she hasn't!) whereas her sisters hoo hoo is quite small and I know she hasn't gone into heat yet.. Her nipples are also still flat with her belly..
