Area Rug's & Yorkies? Do they mix? I ask because I am thinking of buying a rug set but I am worried my chunky munky will pee on it... he is a boy and does mark if that help... he does well not to potty inside unless for some reason we miss his signals but for the most part he will go outside when he needs to go... I am just wondering if purchasing this is a bad idea? Anyone have are rugs on their tile floors? |
Ooh, that is a touchy subject for me right now. Mine (all girls) have been potty trained for ages--recently my house started to smell like pee from time to time and I couldn't figure out why. Well, it's because someone keeps sneaking andpeeing on the rug! I have a suspicions that it's the same one who has always felt compelled to pee on the bathroom rug, but I haven't actually caught her in the act...yet...;) |

lol.. I think its the smell of the rubber backing maybe... Gizmo used to be like that with bathroom rugs so I don't have those any longer.... maybe it was wishful thinking .. but I guess its a bad idea huh... |
Mine are occasionally peeing on mine too...so sneaky! :( If you get an area rug be sure to buy a good steam cleaner, LOL |
i have a steam cleaner... and I HATE having to steam clean..lol.... starting too sound like too much trouble to get a rug set..lol.. |
Can you block them off from the room you want the rug set in? |
I make sure I get the ones that are machine washable, like for the bathroom or kitchen. For the bigger one I take it to the laundromat for the Jumbo washer. |
it is a set... it has a doormat... runner and a room size rug which I wanted to put in my living room... |
Mine dont pee on my area rugs |
My girls and boys, pee, poop, play and tear up area rugs. i have long stopped using them. |
OMG I thought Izzy was the only one.:( She goes outside but she has been going on this one throw rug in my living room and thank goodness it's washable. I need a rug there now that it's winter and people coming in and out need to wipe their feet. That's the only place she piddles now and then and I can tell because I flip it over every few days and I see tiny yellow spots. I didn't train Izzy to go on a pee-pad her breeder did and I wish they hadn't. I think Izzy thinks it's a giant pee-pad:eek:. Come summer I'm going to take it away and see what happens. |
Mine pee on my rug if i don't see them at the door wanting to go out! Plus star is still potty training and we have wood floors.. She REFUSES to pee on the wood but will pee on any rug she can find. |
Make sure to pick up some carpet cleaner. |
I have area rugs in 4 rooms of my house and I have 2 yorkies - the rugs fair pretty well. They have had an accident but I was able to clean it so it wasn't a real problem - for the most part they don't pay any attention to them. |
Tucker loves to poop on my area rug. I'll put down a couple of puppy pads and he stops. I'll take up the puppy pads and he goes back to pooping. I've wondered if there is any kind of spray that will make him want to stay off the rug. Anyone heard of such a thing? |
We recently got rid of our area rugs. Not only were my girls peeing on them, but they would shred the little tassels on the edges. |
Scrappy pees on, and eats and scratches and yank/drags at any rug he possibly can... including carpet - but he's still a baby. I hope that maybe when he's older he'll get over it. |
well gizmo is a calm 2 yr old..lol.. but i am worried about the pee.. sooo.. i am leaning against getting them... the last thing I need is to create more things for me to clean up |

My 13 wk old yorkie still working on the potty pads and see that she is fine till I turn my back then she will go on the rug. I get tired of the clean up. My other one doesn't do that. I'm hoping when she can go outside and it gets warmer she will leave the rugs alone. |
Area rugs are like cushy pee pads to some of them...like Miss Zoey. Hopefully we get her housetraining done soon. I watch her behind like a hawk near the few that we do have. She loves the scatter rugs in the bathroom. |
Finally I have an answer to who has been peeing on my bathroom rug....I wasn't sure if it was the yorkies or the cats.....hhhmmmmm....I do believe I have my answer...little stinkers!!! |
Nopr don't mix. Had to throw mine away Sophie had this fascination with peeing on it. |
I had to throw away a GORGEOUS rug bc my boys just demolished it. I think it was wool though. Maybe a synthetic one will be better... not sure! I do have a rug by the door that I do have to wash about once a week bc they pee on it! :( My boys are just peers though! They pee EVERYWHERE!!! |
Mine doesn't pee on my rugs anymore when he was a puppy he did it a few times now he goes on his pee pad... I cannot wait until summer - NO MORE SNOW!!! |
Mine all pee on the bathroom mat and the kitchen rug under the sink. I just wash them all the time it was a loosing battle lol |
OK for all those babies that pee on the throw rugs and then you got rid of them...did the peeing stop in the house or did they just find another place to pee? |
