Omg!!!!!! OMG....you won't believe what my puppy did this evening!! Help, please!! We got Avery at 3 months old and he was a doll. He's now 7 months and is a holy terror!!! I just don't know what has gotten into him. About an hour ago I walked from the kitchen through the living room and there he was STANDING ON THE COFFEE TABLE!!! That is in addition to....he's getting the fake ashes out of our fireplace with gas logs and chewing it up all over the floor! AND that is in addition to him getting into my potpourri and stringing IT all over the floor! He has plenty of chew toys and I bought a new one this week. I scold him and swat him with a newspaper and I don't know anything else to do. Please someone give me some suggestions! Why is he doing this all of a sudden?? |
Just a yorkie He is just being a yorkie. Placing clear antiperspirant on things you do not want him to chew or play with will help. My boys get into everything, you need to puppy proof your house or you will be spending your entire life, picking up after him. LOL |
hehehe ...He was entertaining himself... I hate to laugh - but it IS funny and yes they can make a HUGE mess - If they can get away with it - they will. If I were you I'd put up stuff you don't want him in...It's really hard but if it's TOO accessible - he'll just keep doing it cause it's FUN. |
If he's potty trained you know how long it can take to train a Yorkie(unless you are one of the lucky ones) When my babies do something wrong I pick them up and show them what they've done and tell them no. If it's pottying in the wrong place I then put them on the paper and tell them to use the paper, use the paper and if they are stubborn like Lacijo, I pick up a corner of the paper and rattle it so she (I hope) knows this is paper. LOL Like I said, she's stubborn. But I use the same technic(sp) for anything they do wrong. Except I don't plop them on paper. LOL Sylvia |
1 Attachment(s) Wow!! I think our yorkies our twin brothers lol  sami is the same age 7 months in 3 days, I have been having the same problems you are, maybe its the terrrrrible 7 months  he has been like a little devil  sorry I can't help! hopefully someone can give us both advice! |
Hahahaha jbarile: look at that little angel, how can you say such things about him? He just knows how to push mommies buttons. Sylvia |
Now, let's see, if I remember correctly, I read a listing of the reasons you should not get a puppy and one of them was....you guessed it....if you are one of those people who must have an immaculate house! :D No one can make a bigger mess than a yorkie! I can promise you that! I'm experienced. :D You should have seen what kind of mess this "little angel" of ours made yesterday afternoon. They grow out of it. You just have to puppy proof your home: get a fireplace screen; put up things that they can get into. Puppy-proofing a home is no different than child-proofing a home. At least, you know they are safe and so is your stuff! :D |
Dig those "red eyes"... It's just the devilment in him! LOL Green eyes - silky. Red eyes - horns!!! |
1 Attachment(s) Its just what they do.. look what linus did to my bed! i just laugh it off! I think its funny. ~The silent dad |
Well, NO...he's not housebroken either (the little bugger)!! This is just awful. He's so ornery I can hardly believe it. Our female never behaved like this and now she sits there and looks at him like he's a crazy man!! The coffee table?? OMG! The antiperspirant idea is a good one, except it won't work for a coffee table, potpourri, or ashes! ARG............. |

This is ONLY a portion of what it really looked like - we had toys in the Bathroom - the hall - the office ....and they did this mess in 4 days I think ? Not to scare anyone...but a puppy did NOT do this - mostly it was Chanel, my 3 year old - Cheri usually keeps one toy and plays with it - Tornado Chanel has to have ALL the toys - |

You haven't mentioned anything about him getting into your trash!! Not to give him ideas or anything, but mine are the biggest trash monsters and I have had to get cans with lids in every room or they go crazy with seeing how many they can empty before GET OFF THE COMPUTER nd catch them!! |
They sure are little rascals, but how can you not love that face? |

You can say no and offer him a chew toy instead - eventually he will learn. But please be patient - he is not born to understand your language and you not his and it will take a long time before you learn to understand each other. Maybe it will never happen if you swat him. |
You might also revert him to being confined when he can't be supervised. That way when he is out you can correct him (verbally should work) as he is doing it. That is the best time any way. Good luck. Terriers are just like 2 year olds. (which is a good thing) |
I agree with Firefish. Confine him unless you can watch every move he makes. Section off a part of a room, get an x pen, play pen, or 2x3 foot crate and place them where he can see you as you go about your day. They are little terrors. We have found Bo on our kitchen table numerous times. Now we have to remember to keep the chairs pushed up to the table. I never woulda thought a dog would do that! That's why God made them so cute. Otherwise they'd never get away with all that they do!! |
Rags watches me pick up all the toys that are everywhere in every room of the house and then he empties the basket and looks at me as if to say "this is the way I want my toys, please don't touch" My house looks like Romper Room all the time, worse than when the kids were little. Rags favorite thing is to take all the stuffing out of a toy and scatter it all over the room. You gotta love them though. |
Swatting a dog signals the end of your relationship from his perspective. He will only learn to stay out of range of your arm. He does not understand the difference between toys and the stuff he has access to. He needs to be confined to an ex-pen, if you are not monitoring his behavior, and trained. If you don't have a pen keep him on a leash tied to your belt when he's not in the crate. It really wouldn't be cute or funny if he ingested some of the stuff he got into and got really sick. Research training methods or try puppy classes. |

Isn't that the truth! I pick up the toys and when the last one is in the pile, shes off to start over again everyone has to be somewhere on the floor. At least when my boys were little they would keep them put away for at least 5 minutes! Its a good thing they are so cute and huggable cause boy oh boy! |

I think the name was mispelled , I think they meant to name them YORKIE TERRORS ;) hehehe |
Jackson was an angel when I first got him, and he is still a great puppy. He doesnt really chew things. Although he is starting to rebel. He is barking more, and waking up at 2 am each morning. I am not sure what is going on. He also whines alot now.. |
