Please Help Me Stop Petland! (please read)
 

Please read and take 5 minutes to help.

Well, I was driving to my mom's for dinner tonight and was listening to a station in Chicago called WTMX the Mix (http://www.wtmx.com) around 630PM. I was thinking how cool it would be to take out an ad on the radio to inform the 1 million listeners about the horrors of puppymills. Well, guess what?...

An ad for Petland came on the station! I wish I could have recorded it. It would have made all of you sick. Something about their expert puppy consultants matching the speaker up with the perfect Golden Retriever puppy for their daughter. Blah blah sunshine and rainbows. I HAD NEVER HEARD AN AD LIKE THIS BEFORE!

Anyway, I think it would be a good idea to write to the marketing/advertising department letting them know how horrible Petland and its practices are. If you want, pretend you're from Chicago and you heard it. If not, just tell them how they need to discourage people from supporting puppymills instead of encouraging it. This is very important. I never want to hear an ad for them again. Furthermore, I don't want anyone in Chicagoland to think that it is OK to shop at Petland. The radio station needs to be aware of the problem.

Yes, Please write from Texas - and ANYWHERE!!! You can just lie and say you heard the commercial for yourself and you're from Chicago if you want. I don't care! I just want them to draw their attention to what they're doing. Thanks Villette!

Hi - I'm writing to you after looking up your station - I heard an ad on your radio station promoting Petland and I was shocked ! I wanted you to know they are the biggest buyers of Puppy Mill puppies where they mass breed. These dogs live in hell. Petland is the biggest buyers of these Puppy Mill Puppies.

Petland often sells sick and dying puppies to customers that have no idea how to find a healthy puppy. If Petland were NOT allowed to sell dogs - then the mass breeding would slow down immensly.

Petland has puppies shipped from all over the country - not caring how many die on the way - and the whole IDEA of selling puppies on the radio is disgusting. Animals need OUR help - If you LIKE the idea of dogs suffering and tortured in a puppy mill then I'm sure you'll delete this.

If I could shut down one kind of store in our world - PETLAND would be it - they are evil people and your radio station is supporting puppy mills and mass breeding by advertising for them.

I hate to sound like this - but you all need to watch where you get your money - You are actually increasing the Puppy Mill problem in this country by playing these ads.

or...If you continue to promote Petland on your station - I won't listen to you.

I am a frequent listener to your station and was outraged today when I heard an advertisement for Petland. Buying animals, or anything for that matter, from any petstore that sells live animals supports puppymills. Maybe seeing the deplorable living conditions these overbred and suffering animals live, you might think twice before advertising one of the biggest buyers of these puppies :Petland. I have been a faithful listener, and would be sad to discontinue listening, but if you choose to continue to promote puppymills and petland I will have no choice, as is the same for many of my friends and family.

I just got home from a quick trip to Santa Barbara and will send mine out right away too.

Kristy...I am making a $100 donation to an anti-puppymill program and I posted "Prisoners of Greed" as a possible recipient asking members here if they knew anything about the organization. I liked their website. Since you have mentioned them in this thread I was wondering if you feel they are worthy of my donation? :confused:

This doesn't have to do with yorkies but it is another animal being treating cruely. This morning I heard a promotion/contest that is going to go on tomorrow morning. They will be giving away new Harry Potter books to the winners of the contest. The contest? Well, the local pet shop "PassPets" is bringing all their bunnies (hares=harry potter--dumb, I know). They are going to have them "race" on the black top and you bid to see who wins. It has been hot and humid here and I feel for those bunnies. they are going to be so scared. Shows you how much they take pride in the pets they are selling. the radio station is www.u93.com I have already emailed them and tried to call but got busy signals. Monica
