| Ways to prevent dog attacks I thought this is a good article that shows tips on how to avoid an aggressive dog from attacking you. Better said than done. I am terrified of big dogs off a leash and especially dogs roaming unattended with no owners in sight. I really dont know what I will do. There is a Pit bull off leash in our neighborhoor. Each time I spot its owner and him coming down the street, I kindly come inside with my boys. I am just terrified of big dogs off leash and without owners. http://www.ehow.com/how_2103704_stop....html?ref=fuel |

| Thanks for posting this. I think this is a valid concern that many of us face. Of course, I always tell hubby that as long as I can outrun him...

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I didn't read it yet but I always pick mine up now or go home - People always say 'oh don't worry- he won't bite' then that's when it can happen ....with these small breeds it's always better to be safe than sorry |

As for outrunning big or small dogs, I just freeze in terror. While in France a huge black dog approached us on the beach with NO owner, he spotted us near the shore and came charging, I started to scream hysterically and grabbed up bandit while he refufsed to hold scooby out of harm's way.. I made such a scene I nearly fell into a puddle of water that was a bit deep trying to head more to the sea to get away from this dog. had somebody on the beach way way to the road not call this animal, i am certain he would have attacked: I was almost in tears because he was not friendly. It happened several times. Next time to France I intend to get more thanh pepper spray . They let dogs roam freely and they are all HUGE dogs without leashes or owners . it is a remote part of the French coast and some may even be strays, my heavens, what if one would attack us or our babies? Jump off the rocks and fall to our deaths or let them bite us and possibly kill us? Last edited by soccbydo; 02-12-2008 at 10:21 AM. | |

| Carry pepper spray and do NOT hesitate to use it if a dog is showing aggression. They say not to show fear..........well HELLO......if some big dog is comming toward you doing the "KUJO" teeth and growl display, are we supposed to turn into some darn HULK or something. Man, I'd be needing clean undies. You bet I have my pepper spray handy, along with some major kicking of the dang dog as well. I have 0 tolerance to aggressive dogs. |
